Handy Helper

mrkelley from Texas, Sep 20, 2009

This unit is very handy; it makes doing the laundry a lot smoother process. It was pretty easy to put together, but it's not as sturdy as I thought it was going to be. The outer poles don't screw together (just above the baskets) or anything, they just slip into each other, so if you accidently pull up on them (as you're pulling it through the house), it could come apart. The canvas bags are nice, but the hooks that they hang from are kind-of a pain to mauever when taking the bags off and then when putting them back on, but the whole package is really pretty handy. I was using 3 plastic laundry baskets in our closet to sort dirtly laundry before I bought this. My husband makes fun of me rolling it around though, as he says I look like a Bell-Hop at a hotel! Even though it has a few things that I wish were different, i still like it, and don't want to give it up!

So Far, So Good

maxcalico from Upstate NY, Aug 26, 2009

I have only had this laundry sorter for a few weeks, but so far, it is a vast improvement on my old one - which was cheap plastic and was breaking and falling apart for the last three years. This one looks better and seems to be sturdy and durable and very functional. It arrived promptly and was easy to assemble. Holds plenty of laundry in the bags, and I like the fact that there is a rack below the bags to help support the load, so they don't drag on the dusty floor. Also, the area for hanging clothes is taller than I expected - the shirts I hang there do not drag on the sorter below, which is great. I also like the shelf on top: though it won't hold a lot of weight without bending, it is nice to have that space for storage.

clothes rack

odarhosa from Blackwood, NY, Aug 16, 2009

Love it; had one that did not have the option to hang on and with my laundry room being small, this comes in very handy. Easy to assemble and well put together; not flimsey like some may be.

Very wide, poor instructions, but quality product

jm80 from Washington, DC, Aug 8, 2009

This "laundry center" was too big for the space available in my closet - that was my fault, I should have measured more carefully - but be warned, this is not a small unit. Some reviews mentioned setting this center up with the assistance of a grandkid, etc. - congratulations! I don't think I'm the dullest knife in the steak set, and I thought the instructions were pathetic. There were a number of pieces that could have been attached to either face of the unit - the instructions leave it up to you to figure it out. I'm pretty good at following assembly manuals, and know how units like these use curved and flat pieces to meet and sit flush to each other. I still found it a very hard decision in a number of instances. My unit came with a few extra screws, which was nice, but may have been random. This product was not cheap and may not be discounted past the $60-70 range where it currently sits. What is most important to me, however, is quality, and this is a quality item. It is attractive (it doesn't look like something cheap that needs to be hidden in a utility closet), rolls well, and seems sturdy. The canvas bags are nice and deep. As I mentioned, check the width carefully - this is built to hold a good amount of laundry.I still think the minimalist instructions are ridiculously far from thorough, but once assembled, the unit looked good. If this had fit in my closet, I would have been very satisfied with my purchase.
