This rug pad grips well and had no chemical odor after removal from packaging. I am using it under a flat weave rug and the rug still needs occasional adjustment. Overall I'm happy with the item and pleased that it is an environmentally friendly product.

As a mom to a new baby boy, this rug pad was a welcome find. I am replacing everything containing vinyl, PVC and phthalates in my home that I can easily replace because of the dangers to his endocrine system from the dust and gases from these products. Conventional rug mats and vinyl shower curtains are going. Because the packaging was not clear about contents, I called the manufacturer and got wonderful service. The customer service rep researched the contents with the chemist and told me that there is no PVC, phthalates, or formaldehyde in the product. Customer service was great. The product did have a strong, sharp chemical odor when I took it from the packaging. I left it outside for a couple of weeks and it does not have the odor now. The product is made from a proprietary compound that is soy-based, as I understand it. It grips well.
