This item looks good for a short while, then the wood starts to separate and crack. I never put anything heavy or hot on the surface, and do not use it as a cutting board, and still the parquet pieces are now separating, leaving gaps. I've only had it for four months!
This is a very easy assembly job. However the bottom support brace wasn't properly affixed. to the bottom leg. Some epoxy fixed that. Overall very sturdy when it's together. Still the design of the bottom support slats makes me think the upward limit of how much this think could carry is probably 150 - 175lbs. That's plenty for a kitchen cart of this size. The top wood isn't terribly thick but it's not too little either. Just enough. I certainly wouldn't chop thing on it directly. Much too glossy for that and you'l ruin the veneer quickly. If you want to put a cutting board on top of it though it will be an attractive unit for that purpose. Anyway at the price it's a good item would recommend.
