what flame retardants are used in the bamboo cover? also, i am 5'3", 150 lbs and my hubby is 6', 340 lbs. i am a side sleeper, he is a back sleeper. do you think we could both handle a soft 3" layer since there is a firm supportive latex layer below?
Not sure of the Flame retardancy but the Bamboo is a premium natural cover that 'sleeps cooler' then the other synthetics. As far as comfort my wife and I have had this mattress for about 3 years and still enjoy it. She's about your size (5'2" I don't ask about her weight!) I'm 6' 230#s.Our old spring mattresses inevitably 'Hammocked' creating two parallel foxholes while the middle of the bed was four inches higher. As far as support most people think they are pretty firm and very supportive. Perhaps too stiff for some. They will loosen up a bit over time but still supportive. The top layer is expensive natural latex and the larger bottom layer is a less expensive but effective synthetic latex that is very firm but less resilient. We bought a premium Lamb's wool cover to give us that little comfortable cushion. It has worked for us. I like a firm mattress but my wife not so much. The wool cover seemed to suit us both. I think the Company is *****?. They are online for details on NATURAL Latex types, firmness guidelines and covering materials. We love our latex. There is some small amount of Hammocking but not as pronounced as an inner spring and the price for a natural latex bed was unbeatable. Would buy it again without hesitation.
what exactly is nuform latex? all-natural? talalay also? on the description of one of the other sizes it said polyurethane foam. also, what type, if any, flame retardants are used on this mattress?
The Talalay process is a method of producing molded pieces of natural latex foam rubber. The Talalay method produces the finest latex available. No fire retardants are added during this process.
What is the core made of?
The core is made from talalay latex.
