Would be 4 stars if the product worked properfly Was looking for a small portable "swamp cooler" type cooling fan or evaporative cooling as the technical term is called. Most of the ones I looked at all had really bad reviews, either they didn't work or they were cheaply made. This one had a really high percentage of positive ratings and overall good reviews but I'd say 20-30 percent of the reviews were negative due to getting a defective unit out of the box with the issue being almost entirely the liquid pump that draws water from the reservoir/tray and is supposed to trickle it down the rear fan filter which results in a cooling mist being pushed by the fans. The unit I received had a pump that worked sporadically but mostly wouldn't pull any of the water and the empty reservoir alarm would start beeping which was extremely annoying since I had a full tank. Positives - has a good strong fan which on high setting pushes quite a bit of air and the evaporative cooling was noticeable the scant periods that the pump actually worked. Purchased it for $XXX here at overstock but now its unavailable. The unit still had promise enough that if it becomes available at that price or less, I'll give it another shot and see if I can make the 70-80 percentile who got a working unit and were pleased with its performance.

Thank you for contacting us wwwmarge. I attached below the information about the product. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Model: NewAir AF-310 Evaporative Tower will accumulate calcium residue in the rear filter depending how harsh your water is. The unit itself is fairly quiet since it is our smallest unit and it only cover 75 square feet. We can not give you a specific amount of time that the unit will run for with a full tank because it varies on the fan speed you are running your unit on. The cooling pad (filter) on the back of the unit is washable so unless the pad itself is badly worn out there is not time frame by when you should replace it. In order for the cooling pad to last for a long period of time you do need to wash it and keep maintenance on the rear screen by rinsing it in luke warm water and allowing it to air dry completely through.
