This heater doesn't plug into your average 240v outlet. I'm sure most guys reading this are already aware of that but I wasn't (cuz I'm not a guy) when I purchased it for my husband. After having installed the correct outlet, my husband is very, very happy with the performance of this heater in his garage.Read More
THIS HEATER IS FANTASTIC! IT REALLY HEATS UP THE THE BASEMENT AREA IN QUICK TIME AND CYCLES ON AND OFF. IT CONSUMES QUITE A BIT OF ELECTRICITY, SO USE IT SPARINGLY...Read More
I got this up and running just in time to combat the freezing weather and snow this week, and I can report that this small package keeps my 500 sq ft barn/shop at a comfortable temperature when I am working. It is quiet yet moves alot of warm air around the shop. I would recommend it.Read More
So I didn't rate the quality excellent, but for the money I don't think you're going to beat it. It runs more quietly than my electric heater that was twice as much and this one has more heating power. I have a 3 car garage and it is able to warm up the space quite well. It takes a while to heat but again, it's not a replacement for 40k BTU natural gas heater. Don't expect this to be as quiet as your home forced air furnace. As fan heaters go however, it is quite reasonable and easy to talk without having to raise your voice because of it. I wish I was aware of this heater five years ago when I paid twice as much for another heater I have.Read More

Thanks for the questions mindful51 about the Newair Appliances 5600 Watt Garage Heater. The power chord is 6 feet long and the unit is only 14" X 11" X 11" so unless you have a very small air conditioner then it will not be able to go into that placement. Thank you for shopping Overstock.com.
The plug is a Nema 6-30 30 amp 220 volt plug. The cord is about 5-6 feet.
does this plug fit into a regular outlet
Hello mindful51, This does not fit into a regular household outlet. This plugs in to an outlet that looks similar to what your electric dryer uses (240 volts). Thank you for shopping Overstock.com, let us know if you have any additional questions.
Again, the plug is a Nema 6-30 plug. Search google for an image of that. It is not a normal dryer plug but these can be easily bought at your lowes or home depot.
What is the cost of running the fan per hour?
The cost will vary by electricity company. You can contact your electric company and provide them with WATTS, 5600. The electricity company will be able to calculate the cost per hour of the unit. Thank you.
Easy math. 5600 watts. I pay about 7 cents per KWh so that would cost me 5.6 x .07 = $.39 cents per hour.
Air Conditioner Air Filter Fact Sheet
Your air conditioner operates by drawing in air, cooling it and then releasing it into your living area. Whether you use a portable air conditioner or a window unit or you have central air conditioning, your air filters will need to be periodically checked and changed. After a while, airborne dust, debris, pollen and other particles may clog your air filters. A clogged air filter forces air conditioners and heaters to work harder and may result in higher energy costs. Dirty or damaged air filters may also shorten the life of your air conditioner. Here are a few facts about air-conditioner air filters help you get the most out of your air conditioner.
