New Solar Comfort Mahogany Infrared Electric Heater

I love my heater. It heats a larger area than I expected and keeps things comfortably warm. My heat pump rarely turns on. Since I have only been using it for a few weeks, I don't know about how long it will work so well, but I really like it so far. The safety features are a big plus for me.

I decided to submit this review because of the other review I saw here. They must have not read the instructions or set it up right because my experience was totally different. The reviews all over the internet are in favor of this heater. People really like them. OK so this is what happened when we got our heater.We took it out of the box and screwed in the heating bulbs (very easy). Our house is a rambler. It is 1500 square feet upstairs and down. In the upstairs we have large vaulted ceilings (so even more heat is required). I put the heater in the middle of our great room (about 900 square feet) and was doubtful if it would heat that whole room. It was about 20 feet away from the thermostat. I did not expect it all all to reach the back bedrooms.It got cold that night (33 degrees all night). About 8 o'clock it felt really cold and we could feel a draft. But instead of turning up our thermostat I turned on the solar comfort heater. Now I noticed a couple of things that was different about this heater compared to conventional heaters. It did not put out all this heat like other electric heaters (that get so hot they can burn down your house) but what it did different was it pulled the air inside the house like a air purifier and heated that heat up air as it passed through the heater, thats how it works. So at first I did not notice anything and wasnt that impressed. When we turned on the solar comfort heater our thermostat read 67 degrees. About an hour later I started feeling warm (especially my feet) then everyone else in the house started saying that. The heat had a different feel to it, it was very comfortable and relaxing. Kind of like a campfire or something. I checked the thermostat and it was 71 degrees! Our gas heater had never kicked on. We always struggle to get our kids to bed on time and they went to bed an hour earlier than normal (they were very relaxed) at 10 when I went to bed I checked the thermostat and it was 73 .......to hot so I turned down the solar comfort heater and went to bed.This is the weird part. The rooms and everything stayed warm as well and the house gas furnace never turned on the entire night......not once. I know these are only supposed to work on up to 800 sq ft but it warmed our entire 1500 sq ft space. I think the reason it did that though is we have one of those 3000 sq ft Air purifiers we run as well (Overstock sells them too) all the time. I think it helped the heater heat a larger space than it was supposed to so I am sure my results are not normal.Anyway our kids were sick and woke up at 2 am so I got up to help them, I checked the thermostat it was 71. The next morning I checked weather.com to see what the temperatures were it was windy and 33 degrees all night. The upstairs never got below 71 on our thermostat and our gas central air furnace never came on once the entire night. Needless to say I was very impressed. According to the internet these work the best with humidity above 35% if you have that then I totally suggest this heater. I know I was totally impressed by it.

We recently purchased this Solar Comfort unit and placed it in a small 12' X 14' room where our furnace thermostat is; turned our furnace thermostat down to 67 degrees. This room is in the center of the house; very well protected from wind; is well insulated; however this heater would not keep the room at 67 degrees, and the outside temperature is only 36 degrees. The furnace kicked on constantly. We have received more heat out of a $39 ceramic heater. I would not r4ecommend this heater to anyone; it is a total joke.
