Product Reviews for:
3.7 out of 5This is the first product of the very many I've purchased at Overstock with which I'm not satisfied. I used the proper bulb but the lamp still heated up. From the start turning the lamp on and off was difficult, requiring both hands, one to hold the lamp still.. Eventually, the switch stopped working at all and the lamp is now out of service. I might have received a lemon, considering the large number of positive reviews, but that's my experience
Yes, I was very wary after reading the other reviews about this product because it mentioned how hot the lamp became when using it and also that the on/off toggle switch became loose after a while. The first thing I noticed when opening the box (which I believe could have used additional packing material around the lamp box to keep it from shifting in the packing/shipping box) was the inclusion of a sheet suggesting the use of an energy efficient coiled bulb with this product. I had such a bulb but first tried a regular 60 watt bult and yes the lamp became extremely hot to touch; however, when I changed to the energy efficient coiled bulb the lighting was perfect and the lamp has remained cool. With regard to the toggle switch problem, at first I had the light attached to a surge protector strip in order not to use the toggle switch for turning on/off, but have since moved it to another area and have been using the toggle on/off switch without any problem. I absolutely love the lamp and plan in the future to order another; perhaps the sister model which has the revolving office supply bins attached to the base.
Purchased this (in white) in late August and was pleased with its clean and heavyweight base. Wished it were taller. All parts had a tendency to get VERY HOT during use, so adjustment was an issue. Still, it was functional and pleasant. It's now October, and after a few days of finicky behavior, the top on/off knob has completely broken: it just spins around endlessly. It's totally useless. And dark. Avoid for everyday use!
It died after a while, but lived long enough for such a cheap lamp. good temporary desk solution. not a thing of beauty, but i could see that from the photo.

Defective lamps. The manufacturing is bad quality, especially the nob to turn the lamp on and off. One of the got stuck and would not work. looks good, but they don't work properly
this is a great little bed-side table lamp. Best value I have found. the back gets a little bit hot, but the on/off button stays cool.
for those worried about the heat problem use a CFL bulb 13 watt. cool and in the long run cheaper.
I have this on my night stand and it works great. All I needed was a light bulb and to plug it in. For the money, this is a good product.
This lamp is attractive on my bureau but the light bulbs keep burning out within a week of use. Also, the light doesn't always turn on when you turn the switch. The switch can also get hot if you've had the lamp on for a few hours. Still, I like the lamp. It's portable and attractive.
I purchased 3 of these lamps. One for my granddaughter for her blue desk, a white for my daughter and one for me. They are fine lamps for the price.
gets very hot when used for extended periods. Appearance is a little retro.
This Gooseneck lamp is perfect for my kids work space. It sits on their "childrens size" table and I can adjust the light over to where they are coloring or painting. The only complaint I have is that the base is a bit bigger than I would like... as the table is small but overall it was a great buy for the $$.
The lamp is very nice - but the color looks somewhat different than it appeared on-line.
These are great little additions for a guest room or children's room. True to color. I would order them again.
I ordered this lamp for my teen daughter's desk. It's perfect. Just the right size and right amount of light. She loves it.
Lamp is very cool and stylish. Heavy base for stability - large cone lamp points the light where you need it. Socket did not point exactly straight and the bulb leaned against the plastic lamp when it arrived. It got a little hot because I had a higher wattage bulb than recommended. I tweaked the socket and got the 40 watt bulb and and is well.
Pretty color, niece loved it for her college dorm. Looked like it did online with descent price so I'd recommend it to others. it's plastic though so don't expect it to look like a glass globe. but not cheap looking which was good
The lamp says it takes a 60 watt bulb, but that made the lamp get very hot. I replaced that with a 40 watt bulb and the metal top of the lamp still gets very hot. The shade portion of the lamp is made of plastic, which looks a bit scratched around the edges.
This lamp does it's job, but the top seems to be slightly misaligned which makes the light bulb a little closer to one side than the other. Despite the name "New Orleans", there is a "Made in China" label on the bottom of the lamp. For the money I paid, it's probably ok and I'll keep it.
For the price it is a good little desk lamp. However you are limited to a 60W bulb. As a desk lamp that is probably more than enough so I can't complain. It is stylish and looks good wherever you place it. My only complaints are that the bulb does not sit directly in the middle of the lamp. Not sure if it is just the one I received but when I put the bulb in it was off to one side and almost touches the inside of the lamp reflector. I think it should be in the very middle..... The only other peeve I have which is not a hit on this specific model but more so on desk lamps in general. Instead of using a silver lining on the inside reflector they use white. Using white probably keeps heat down but you get less reflected light out of the lamp. I would like to see them start using a reflective mirror type inside..
