This is truly a luxury item. I've had mine for six weeks and have gone through about two dozen espressos. It is a well built unit. I could not find anything in the packaging or in the unit itself that would be a tell-tale sign that it is a refurbished, and not a new, unit. It should take you about two minutes to read through the instruction manual and get the unit up and brewing. It works exactly as described. It makes a kind of a whoosh sound when dispensing the brew. Not a bad sound at all, a good kitchen sound. The unit does drip a bit after it has finished. Just two or three drips, not much more. I have been dealing with this by replacing the full cup with an empty cup when I am ready for my espresso. Easier to clean the cup then to clean the drip tray. I have been using Nespresso capsules exclusively. I have been buying the caps from their web site. The espresso costs about a buck a cup. The espresso is very smooth. A little foam on top as you would expect. It is not overly hot. If you really are looking for very hot espresso, you won't find it here. There are refillable caps available for this unit if you want to roll your own. Like I opened with, this is a luxury item. I have been satisfied with the Nespresso caps and I am not looking to save a few cents. For about the past ten years, I have been brewing espresso with a Bialetta, stainless steel stovetop unit. It was a pain to clean and impossible to de-scale. The BIaletta brewed espresso, usually Ilya or Lavazza , can be as hot as you want it and lot more bitter. I will be using the Bialetta a lot less going forward. There is no comparison with the convenience and ease of use between the two. Of course, the Bialetta is built to last a lifetime, it remains to be seen how the Nespresso holds up.
Great machine, a little noisy when it first starts but great nonetheless
