Well the mattress started out as an 8" mattress. After almost a month, I think the mattress has compressed to 6". This mattress was not anywhere as good as the original mattress that came with my futon. If you originally started out with a good quality mattress, I would suggest paying a little more and get a thicker mattress (10") with a center foam support. This mattress is about what one should expect for the price.

After reading reviews I decided to buy this mattress for a futon I had previously purchased which came with a cheaper made mattress
The thickness is so much better than I had anticipated and of course it came , as usual without a hitch.
It shipped in less than a week, and it is very comfortable to sleep or sit on.
I use it in a sunroom/tv room, between me and my husband we run to see who gets to it first. The color is a light kaki, and has specks in it which makes it appear casual. You can use it covered or just the way it is, looks good.
