I am considering this TV stand, but am concerned about the materials used. Since this is made of hardwoods, MDF and veneers, I'm concerned about how the finish will look. Are the hardwoods used for the top, sides and front? Which are obviously the areas where you would want to see the real grain of the wood, as opposed to the veneers?

Solid piece of TV stand and perfect color for my living room. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend this piece.Read More
This is a very good TV stand, looks very elegant and goes well with a traditional style. The wood looks good and definitely looks more than what I actually spent on it. My only regret is that it is kinda low and small so I wouldn't use it as a TV stand for a theater or main family room, maybe for like a bedroom or something smaller.Read More
I looked a long time before deciding on this TV stand. It had to match our great room furniture in type and color of wood and style. The stand looked just like its picture, and it matched our furniture perfectly! It took my brother about an hour and forty-five minutes to assemble it, and he only left off one trim piece, which wasn't mentioned in the instructions. However, it looks beautiful without it. The stand is very sturdy, and supports our 47" new TV very well. The stand was delivered to our vacation home out in far western Maryland. It had to arrive on the one day we would be there to receive it, and it arrived right on time. All in all, it was a great experience. Thanks, Overstock.com!Read More

since this is a darker colored stain and not a lighter stain, it appears to be real wood when it is put together. it looks exactly like it does in the picture. it is heavy, around 80+ pounds so it is sturdy, we have a 50 inch flat screen on it and it handles it with no problem
How to Choose an Entertainment Center

These media storage solutions are sold in every, shape, size, and color, which means there's one for every preference. When you're shopping, the sheer multitude of entertainment centers can seem overwhelming, but don't fret; here are some helpful hints on how to choose an entertainment center. By considering all these points, you're sure to find the entertainment center that best suits your needs.
Entertainment Center Buying Guide
While your television set may be the focal point of your home entertainment activities, what it sits on -- or in -- says a lot about who you are. Is your TV still sitting atop that beaten up particle board TV stand that you bought at a garage sale 10 years ago? Perhaps it's time to upgrade your living room furniture, starting with a new entertainment center. Home entertainment centers have been around a long time and have evolved quite a bit from the massive wooden cabinets of the 1960s and 1970s. Which entertainment center is right for you will depend on what you want to use it for, the components you want it to store and your personal taste in furniture.
Tips on Buying an Entertainment Center
Making your television the focal point of your living room also puts your entertainment center in the spotlight. An entertainment center is more than just a place to store your TV. The right one is an accent to your home's decor. There are many options to choose from, so taking the time to think about logistics will ensure that you pick the right entertainment center for your home.

How to Clean a Corner Entertainment Center
When you're tight on space, a corner entertainment center can fulfill all your entertainment needs in a fraction of the space. Picking up a corner entertainment center could be the perfect touch to complete your family room. Because most television stands are generally laden with a TV, video game console, DVD player and other entertainment odds and ends, it can be easy to neglect cleaning them. However, considering a good deal of attention is focused on your corner TV stand, it might be worth a good cleaning every now and then. Considering dust seems to gravitate to the corners of any room, you might want to do this more often than not; however, not all types of corner TV stands should be cleaned the same way, depending on material. The next time your corner entertainment center looks like it could use some sprucing up, use these tips to keep it sparkling for years to come.

TV Stand Buying Guide
Lately, television consoles, stands and storage racks have been exhibiting updated designs, sporting storage for your media essentials in models that are tastefully coordinated to the rest of your living room furniture. Compact TV stands and corner TV stands are convenient in smaller apartments, dorm rooms and offices, but even large homes can benefit from the clean look and discreet presence of a television stand. As more people upgrade to lean flat-panel televisions, they are seeing that the smaller size of a TV stand is all they need. The furniture industry usually reserves the term "entertainment center" for the largest TV furniture, big enough for the television, a cadre of audio or video components and a full CD-DVD collection. TV stands tend to be smaller than full entertainment centers while still having enough shelves for a few components and some media storage. For smaller homes or for smaller rooms in larger homes a stand may be all the TV furniture you need.
