I was looking forward to having a shower on my own, extremely short level, and was excited by what I thought was a good deal. I'm not sure how much of my disappointment is my own fault for being unfamiliar with the product and how much is attributable to poor quality of the merchandise, but I am extremely unhappy. To begin with, almost all components are plastic. What is billed as a 60-inch brass shower hose is actually only 46 inches long, and it must be brass-plated, because it weighs practically nothing when coiled in my hand. The parts did not fit together correctly, and required much adjusting and manipulation. I don't particularly care that the so-called "integrated" soap dish falls off the bar at the slightest touch, but the fact that the showerhead itself does the same thing is extremely disappointing. During my shower, the showerhead inexplicably leaped from its rest and whacked me on the shoulders three separate times! ( I suppose it's better then being whacked on the head. ) Since the showerhead does not fit correctly into the rest designed to lock it in place during water flow, it requires a complicated balancing act to perch it in place. The directions were not clear, and I had the impression that there were steps missing. I had leftover parts after completing the installation and no clue as to their purpose. I am fairly handy around the house and generally have no trouble with basic tasks, including use of power tools and complex furniture assembly. This should have been a snap . . . instead, it took more than three hours and doesn't even work correctly. I am trying to decide whether it's even worth the hassle of returning it!

Great Deal!
 from L.A.,CA,  Aug 12, 2009

This is the 3rd Monte Carlo showerhead I am buying. Not because there is anything wrong with it, but because it is so fantastic that now I'll have them in ALL our bathrooms! The ease of use and the cost cannot be beat anywhere!! Trust me, I've looked. Whether for small children who otherwise couldn't reach a showerhead, or to wash off only your feet after gardening, the multifunctional and user-friendly adjustable rod is quite handy. And the look is simple so it goes with nearly any style decor.

fixes the problem
from stl mo,  May 7, 2009

we have an old house and someone some time ago had cut the pipes to the shower head behind the wall! we cannot get back there without causing major damage:( our answer has been this, we attached it to the tub spout and then onto the provided bar so we could have a shower in that bath again. works great, the only problem we have is that when in the holster on full spray it sprays from one end of our really large cast iron tub to the other end. if you keep it on pulsing massage it doesn't do that and it does feel pretty good. it doesn't actually make a mess or anything its just that we hang towels for drying off on that towel bar at the end of the tub. since our house is old and has plaster walls the fact that you can hang this with just two screws was great for us:)

Monte Carlo Sliding Bar with Handheld Shower
from NY, NY,  Jan 12, 2009

After 20 years my dual level shower head started leaking and I replaced it with this one. What a delight it is! I am only 5 feet tall and just don't want to wash my hair every day when I shower. This is just great: I can lower the shower head so that it begins spraying at the chest level and needn't bother with a shower cap either. When I do want the water to come from above my head I just slide it up. It's sleek and well designed, too. My only caveat is that I haven't yet figured out how to adjust the strength of the spray as the instructions were thrown out right after a friend assembled it for me and I am totally lacking in mechanical ability. But I'm sure that part will be fine too as soon as someone shows me how to do it! LOL

I am a short person and the sliding feature is great. I love the fact that the handle can come off for ease of cleaning the shower walls. Drilling the holes into the walls was difficult and I wasn't crazy about the shower settings. However I am happy with my purchase.

Great for the $
from Mercer County, NJ,  Aug 5, 2011

Quick installation and great value for the price. I'm using it in a kids bathroom and works perfectly. The quality isn't high end, but your NOT paying $100 or $200 bucks. At this price, get two and then you'll have a fresh new handset in five years when you need another. I'm very pleased with this purchase and will order a second to set aside for future use. This would make a great gift for a first time home owner.

Good product, great price, easy to install
 from California,  Jul 12, 2011

The up and down adjustment is good with a hand controlled knob. The angle of the shower head can be changed, but requires a screwdriver. Both are superior to those that do not have adjustable tension, which can fail or become too loose, such that there is no control.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? as depicted
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. quality is up to par
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? a little incomplete

What a great bargain!
 from Minnesota,  May 26, 2011

Just needed to say that this is a GREAT BARGAIN! You really can't go wrong for under $$$..we only needed the slide bar..did not use shower head or hose.. Yes, some pieces are plastic, but what isn't today?! Directions are not the best, but if you can't figure it out should you really be installing it?

upstairs sower/tub
 from OK,  May 3, 2011

Not sure if I missed that parts of this are plastic??? My plumber was not impressed with the plastic pieces at all. Otherwise it looks great and since it won't get a great deal of use we hope it will be ok.

Very good product for the money. Just didn't expect some plastic parts. I had one years ago that was all metal.

good price
 from Saco,ME,  Apr 30, 2010

we used this for parts the bar is very light so we sawed off the ends and used the holder on the bar we had as our holder broke off it was a cheap fix. We also used the hand held unit wich is a lowe quality but works fine, you get what you pay for and this worked for what we needed.

Single part worth the cost
from raleigh, nc,  Apr 16, 2010

I needed the slider bar part that holds the handle. It was less expensive to buy the assembly than it was to buy the part from an original vendor. Now I have spare parts in case others fail.

Great!
from Fort Worth, TX,  Mar 25, 2010

Item looks great, easy to install with proper screws and tile drill bit. We used stainless steel screws instead of what came in the package. All parts function well and look great. Water pressure is high. Would buy again.

pretty good product
 from Boston,  Mar 25, 2010

We installed this item over 6 months ago, and I'm still very pleased, considering the very low price, and how it functions. I'd read the reviews beforehand, and really appreciated knowing that the rod, adjustable gripper, and shower head are pretty much entirely made of plastic, not metal. So, I knew what I was getting into. However, I just couldn't resist trying it out anyway, given how inexpensive it was compared to ones made of metal. My biggest concern was about the rod/bar not being metal. Handheld shower heads are almost always plastic. So far, so good. I just bought two more (a total of three). One is for our newer bathroom renovation project, and the third is, frankly, a spare, just in case one of the ones in either of my two bathrooms breaks. Overall, I feel like this was a worthwhile purchase.

Very good for price
from West Fargo, ND,  Mar 1, 2010

I installed this in my children's bathroom. It was easy to install, and the hardware looks nice and functions well. The soap dish didn't fit (or I was doing it wrong), but I didn't want it anyway. Very good product, and definately recommend over some of the much more expensive brands.
