Montclair 59-in Oil Rubbed Bronze Floor Lamp

This Montclair 59-inch floor lamp comes in four sections that simply screw together. It has two longer dark-brown resin sections that looked like wood at first. And three circular marble pieces are at the base, middle, and top. The smaller photo shows a close-up of one of the marble sections, but mine is a lighter brown color than the photo. I placed the lamp in my living room and it brightly illuminates a diagonal half of the room really well, perfect for reading or working at a desk or computer. I use it for both: as my reading lamp and for working with my wireless keyboard when I am using my TV as my monitor. The floor lamp isn't like a ceiling light that spreads evenly throughout the room, so I have a small desk lamp sitting on my desk in the other diagonal half of the living room. However, it is not a typical Wal-Mart floor lamp since it is much more study and stylish. I especially like the little marble sections (they match the top of my desk that sort of looks like marble as well). It takes one 3-way light bulb. This means that the floor lamp allows three levels of brightness. You use the main switch at the top of the lamp to switch between the three levels. I found cheap and compatible light bulbs at a local Ace Hardware store. You can use a 50/100/150 watt incandescent bulb. This wattage bulb allows 615/1540/2155 lumens depending on the level of brightness you choose (by turning parts of the light bulb on or off). You can also use a 16/25/32 watt CFL bulb. The package indicates that the bulb is a replacement for the 50/100/150 bulb. This wattage bulb has 600/1600/2150 lumens. I chose the CFL light, but I might get an incandescent bulb to compare and see whether I can get the lamp to put out a bit more light on the highest setting. The light looks like a piece of furniture itself and has a thick base. I can only put my hand around a few grooved spots. It was easy and quick to put together for the most part. Some of the sections were awkward to screw together, but once together, it looks very sturdy and has a classical-looking design. Highly recommended!

• How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The small photo is too dark. My lamp has three lighter brown marble sections in-between the longer and darker-brown resin sections. The large vertical photo lacks detail and quality, but accurately captures the darkness and sturdiness of most of the floor lamp. I mostly thought the lamp was worth checking out in person and taking a chance!
• Please tell us about the quality of the product. Excellent materials for the most part: I like the combination of the longer dark-brown resin sections, and the three little marble sections. The top part around the light bulb and the shade are a bit basic. For example, the material around the light bulb is a bit flimsy and requires care, and the connective screwing parts were a bit awkward and took some time to figure out whether they were going together correctly. Once together, it is study and classic looking floor lamp.
• How accurate was the on site description of the product? Very accurate. However, no professional wiring needed at all. It comes with a simple cord like any other lamp I could get at a Wal-Mart.
