Calling themselves the independents, Monet and his colleagues organized their own exhibition.
Contemptuously labeled Impressionists by the press, the title was taken from one of Monet's paintings in the exhibition, Impression: Sunrise because their work appeared unfinished like a first impression. Monet's compositions from this period are loosely structured. The color was applied in strong, distinct strokes as if the pigment wasn't reworked. This technique suggested the artist had captured a spontaneous impression of nature.
Impression, Sunrise includes a sculpted frame with gentle engravings designed to emphasize the art. The frame also includes a wooden liner with a subtle fillet. The frame color is black with a rich antique gold accent.

I was very surprised at how beautiful this was. The colors are muted but the painting is absolutely gorgeous. Some of the reviews said this was dull and gray. Not so, the sky and the water are calming and the small burst of fading sunlight reflecting on the water is perfect. The frame is very elegant. I love this painting!!

The frame is very nice. The colors of the canvas are very muted in this reproduction; everything seems blue- gray. The sun's orange is very muted. Everything seems dull, even the paint itself!

I agree with the review Jen submitted. The print is nice, but the colors are very different that they appear in the photo.

I was dissapointed with the color. You picture colors listed are more vibrant than the product I recieved. The purple is more grey than purple. The orange sky wasn't quite orange. I didn't send it back because I have been away on business for the last few months.

The colors are very muted in this reproduction; mostly grays, no blues. The sun and reflection are orange. It's a very nice painting, but be aware if you're purchasing for the specific colors on the website, they are not the same. Still a nice product.
