Monet's compositions from this period are loosely structured. The color was applied in strong, distinct strokes as if the pigment wasn't reworked. This technique suggested the artist had captured a spontaneous impression of nature.

The only thing that was not excellent about this painting is that the frame is different than that shown in the image posted. None-the-less, the frame is still very nice. I was pleasantly surprised that the colours are actually much more vibrant in the painting that what it looks like on the image posted. Overall, this painting is beautiful. If you are not picky about the frame (I was wanting this frame b/c the black surrounding it would match the furniture in the room), I would highly recommend this painting.
I absolutely love this painting! I was a little worried about the reviews saying that it was dull and gray, but definitely not so! It is beautiful and the blues and orange stand out wonderfully!! It is well made and doesn't appear to be a cheap copy, great quality. The only difficult part now will be to find a place to hang it where I can see it every day!
I was very surprised at how beautiful this was. The colors are muted but the painting is absolutely gorgeous. Some of the reviews said this was dull and gray. Not so, the sky and the water are calming and the small burst of fading sunlight reflecting on the water is perfect. The frame is very elegant. I love this painting!!

The frame is very nice. The colors of the canvas are very muted in this reproduction; everything seems blue- gray. The sun's orange is very muted.
