Mid century modern
This couch if far nicer than I expected it to be, I assumed it might be of middle quality and was priced for the unique mid century look. I have ordered quite a few things from O.com and this item far surpassed my expectations. It is very sturdy and seems like it will be very durable and last quite a long time. It is comfortable, though I would say the cushions are firm. The fabric feels and appears very durable and heavy duty, moderately soft (not quite as soft as say a modern sofa form Crate and Barrel but nicer than many at Macy's) and of high quality. It seems like it will also clean up nicely if needed. I have tested out many more expensive couches in "popular" stores and this one could easily be sold at twice the price and would be worth it! I was worried my dogs claws would snag the fabric but it has held up perfectly. Buying such an expensive item without seeing it in person was a hard risk to take, but this sofa is absolutely amazing! As a pickey perfectionist with expensive taste, I highly recommend this sofa!! lastly, the delivery people were great! I got a call a few days after it shipped from overstock, and they were flexible in scheduling a delivery date, and the actual delivery was professional and surpassed my expectations. They brought it up 3 flights of stairs, and into my apartments living room quickly without knocking or damaging the sofa. I had to unpack it and screw on the feet myself, but that was quite easy.

Like a pair of high heels, it's about the look.
Was very pleased that this "davenport", as my grandmother would say, arrived in less than a week and was as beautifully styled and true to color as the pictures. The fabric is very nice, of good quality, and the texture of the era. lt really is a stunning period piece and love the look. The feel, however, is another story. For those wishing for comfort in a sofa....this one is not for you. The cushions are are extremely hard. Think as retro as you can get and imagine sitting on Wilma Flinstone's stone slab sofa. That being said, this sofa is more for the fashion conscious person who doesn't mind buying the most fabulous pair of shoes in the house and comfort be darned. The feel of looking good offsets the pain. If you do cave in to fashion and purchase this sofa be aware that the legs are in a zippered compartment on the underside and you don't have to call the shipper in a panic thinking they forgot to deliver them like I did. There are no instructions so I will save you some time and tell you the ones with attached bolts go in front, the loose bolt slanted ones go in back.
