I have a red Artisan Kitchen-aid stand mixer and use it pretty regularly and it never fails to work exactly as I expect. I am planning a kitchen remodel and wanted a different color so I ordered the Green Apple. Was delivered in perfect condition. Now, for my beautiful red one, I know a young lady who loves to bake as much as I do and has been working with a hand-mixer (bless her heart) and her dream is to have a red Kitchen-aid mixer. I'll be surprising her this week with my old mixer! I had lost the black knob over the attachment screw and 2 of the rubber feet so I ordered replacements, cleaned her up (didn't need much because I always wiped her down and dried her before putting her to bed) and she's ready to bless someone else now! I would like to say one other thing about Kitchen-aid. If you had one and had problems you probably just got that one-in-a-million lemon. This is a very reliable product. Please don't let one negative review discourage you from buying. No one is 100% and certainly more people are pleased with this mixer than not.

I bought this item via another online spot just about 6yrs ago. From very early on there were transmission noises.Kept getting worse, can feel the looseness and just today it quit on me. Frantic, I searched out all fix-it sites and got interesting information regarding this model. I have to say I love this machine, I got the full boat version 6qt with 2 additional packages for meat grinding, cheese grating and more, pasta add on and a processor. Each extra pack works fine, even the sausage making stuff that came with it. I have made many things with this and it has saved me a huge amount of time and made some tough jobs a breeze. Mostly, over the past 2yrs, i have been making my own pizza dough and focaccia only slight differences in process no need to go into here. but the mixer with spiral dough hook makes a labor intensive job done with out a sweat in 20mins of machine time total. well beaten/kneaded and the spiral gets the ball formed and pulls it up and away from the sides. I have just read that on some of these Pro 600 models there were plastic transmission case or case covering, sounds as if i got one of those. Good part is replacement is only $30 or was at the time of the fixya post by a moderator or someone who had done the job at home-so claims it is an easy DIY job. I plugged mine in just before i put it off into its box and in a cabinet because i thought the motor had burnt out. Well, it started up. Had been dead as a doornail for 20mins worth of testing the socket and breakers and the switch a few times. I was only kneading a round ball of bread dough. the machine was not hot anywhere which i first thought was the issue. had been hotter I think the only downside of this model is how it can struggle on plain bread dough, no double recipe either which was promoted as 'easy' for this model a big reason i got it. from day one, i found out that it just can not handle bread well. should, but cant. not sure why, maybe the cut rate transmission parts? but that electric motor doesnt have replaceable brushes. must buy the $100 motor complete. no idea if it is a much better replacement , as the transmission was said to be. dont even know that for sure, just read the 3 or 4 reviews by people who gave reports, step by step plus kitchen aid is supposed to have a good parts list , not very expensive , i read, and a great manual with the exploded views of each component with parts clearly shown i did download this and I only got through a bit of it, when i found that my machine seemed to get another shot at life. for how long? time and bread will tell. but i will be replacing the transmission or parts of it as the step by step guide appeared to be very doable , just a bit of grease, which i noticed should be checked anyway with all the grinding and grating i did. even listed the parts number and description and brand of grease they have I am still happy with Kitchen Aid in general and hits product did not do much to tarnish my impressions which go back 60years when I was a kid and got to use my grandmother's KA stand mixer with the turn table an fitting bowls. dial on back. It might have been new in 1953 or 54 or could have been 10yrs old still worked fine in the 80s or 90s when the last bowl broke and no one wanted to send for a new one I got this very good looking Pearl Metallic and it has stood up to use a few times a week for one thing or another. I leave it out on an island unit i have with a clear , translucent cover , if i cover it at all. It is just as nicely finished as it was the day i took it out of the box. easy to keep clean ,same with the SS bowl with handle held up well with no nicks or dings in the shiny mirror finish of the handled bowl. nothing bent all aligns as well as day one, too. same with lift device. all 3 beaters are in perfect shape too the 11,(i think)wire whip and the paddle as well as the cork screw/spiral dough hook. I spent almost 20yrs in professional well equipped kitchens and a 20qt mixer was about the smallest one. even those top rated Hobarts had first gear/speed transmission hassles on some. I only have good things to say about mine after about 6yrs. though some transmission noise. it has worked, till today, and will still need to see how much trouble it really is. I have yet to find any posts or search hits for this one time shut down other than heat. not any sign of heat today If any one of thsesKP26M1X colors in the 6qu Pro lift series is available, especially with a couple of those additional packs, grinder , sausage making things and even a pasta making attachment though those are expensive, and, the prices I have seen listed here at overstock.com are icing on the cake. I would get another one, if i had a 2nd home. as it is now. regardless of which issue i have, I may be able to fix it myself and replace even a motor for a small fraction of what a brand new or refurb might cost and much less shipping, if any. bottom line is that i struggled over the 4 or 5star rating. Only due to the not so good transmission, and i cant , at this point report whether i do have the cut rate plastic housing /cover or not-though it has made clicking and ticking noises since the first dough recipe i did the first week i had it and did not get a no shipping offer on a repair even under warranty, forget details and it was over the year before i considered actually sending it regardless of reporting it in a timely manner, no soap , i had to pay shipping that was steep due to weight and need to insure. I am mostly disappointed in the far too short warranty-should be 5yrs but lower quality parts, may have made it bad business sense but costs a star in my book with struggle but still must go despite a strong possibility i may be able to fix it myself, a plus but not as good as any reasonable 5yr warranty particularly on any "Professional" Series models. If I were younger I would probably move to the commercial 8qtKSM8990 as extra tools are supposed to fit and it is no vibration and SILENT. this 600 shakes and quakes and does whine and make a racket even at the top speed i use on dough #3 , slipped to 4 once for a second . i only use 7-10 to whip up things really. silent and smooth it is not but i still like it fine and do not take anything away since i was very aware of these issue before i opted for this model. at that time there was no ksm8990 ,but a ksm7990 with a bigger by far , then, price about double or $700 or so. not discounted at the time i was looking i dont think. still would probably gone for this kP26m anyway. a very good, not great though due to warranty and an obvious transmission issue from not well designed part or part, according to more than just me , but i can say for sure and i do not want to over state this, it should not be considered any deal breaker , more of an idiosyncrasy ,mine is still going, and even if it had a 5yr warranty, it is still , literally, ticking away, but i would have sent it in by now had it been covered. one last time -one year warranty on a $450 retail mixer is just no good. john

I received this mixer 4 days ago. However, I have used it a lot already and feel I can give an adequate review. I made two double batches of icing, a pound cake, white homemade dough with the dough hook, ice cream mixture with the whip, and creaming the ice cream mixture with the ice cream maker attachment. When making the icing, I did notice that creaming 2 cups of shortening with a few tablespoons of water in this larger bowl took some trial and error. I found on the second batch that if I stir to get it going and then go to speed 2 and then 4 it worked a lot better for mixing as the motor was moving the beater faster. When making the pound cake, I noticed that my mixture was thicker than when I used two other mixtures by other companies. I've always been able to pour my cake batter into the pan, not scoop it out. I had to shake the pans to level out the mixture as it was that thick. However, the cake tasted the same so I'm okay with the change in appearance. I've always made dough with my hands on a wood surface. However, I wanted to see what this mixture would do. My recipe used 8.5 cups of flour and instructed me to add four cups in the mixer. However, I was able to incorporate 6-7 cups as the hook really mixed the ingredients very well. With the dough hook, the highest speed you will use is 2 and this did the job, to my surprise. When I folded the dough on my work surface, it make my kneading job so much easier and faster. I added the other 2+ cups of flour as needed and the dough was fantastic. Also, I used the pouring shield to add my flour on the stir setting and then increased back up to 2nd speed at intervals. This worked great for me and after all flour was incorporated, I removed the shield. I don't think you are supposed to leave it on unless you are using it as it doesn't snap in place but rather sits on the bowl. The best part was I got to use the mixer to make ice cream using the separately purchased ice cream maker attachment. I used the French vanilla ice cream recipe provided in the supplied owner's manual. This was my first time making ice cream and combining hot mixture with cool/room temperature mixture. The instructions were very good and the ice cream taste great. I ate some freshly made and I have yet to taste it frozen. You do have to prepare the ice cream bowl at least 15 hours in advance and you must refrigerate your mixture before you can cream. I made the mixture and froze the bowl the day before use.My only complaint was that the instructions for attaching to the machine are so simple and the diagrams so simplistic that it went completely over my head. I was looking for the piece to snap to the motor head but you just push up and turn it to the angle and when the spinner is attached the two pieces lock. I was expecting it to need more to stay on the mixture. I kept looking for a center hole to slide the unit up. The unit worked just fine as designed and apparently it was me thinking it should attach differently. My comments about the mixture are that I thought the green would be different from what was shown on the site. I thought it was the ugliest appliance I've ever purchased. However, as it sits on the counter the color is growing on me and my husband. I love that the mixture is very easy to clean, just wipe with a damp towel. The mixture is sturdy and blends foods much faster than any mixer I've owned by other companies (this is my first KitchenAid mixer). I don't like that the instructions are not explicit enough on how to place the bowl on the pegs. I just figured it out today and by the next time I use it, it will be another learning curve. Once I figured it out, it made sense but I'd taken that bowl off many times before it became obvious how to attach it. My only other concern is that when I need to scrape the bowl, I have to drop whatever beater/whip/hook is attached; can be annoying sometimes. even though it's easy and quick to do. I definitely recommend you purchase this mixer as I'm a happy cook and new owner of a KitchenAid product.

I have always wanted a Kitchenaid mixer but the price was outrageous. I was nervous about a refurbished mixer, but for the price I thought I would try it and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed. This mixer is awesome and it looks like brand new. I only have it about 2 weeks and all I want to do is bake something so I can use it. Thank you overstock.com you made me a very happy person...

I purchased this mixer for my girlfriend who is a novice baker generally tired of hand mixing cakes, batter, etc. This is a typical product as would be sold in a box store but not high-end by any means. Her excitement to get started baking before Christmas made this into an early gift. Since it was delivered in 2 business days exceptionally well protected I was plesantly suprised. As with most of our counter-top appliances I was intrigued with the look and feel. Sadly it feels cheaper due to its mostly plastic design and is louder than one would image. This is definitely a small mixer when compared to the 5-6 hundred dollar models. The suction cups do hold the unit to the counter based on its weight but keep an eye on it as they occaisionally come loose and it begins to move. The plastic release button feels firm but I would recommend placing a small amount of pressure on the top in order to allow the release latch to disengage smoothly. The hinge is not spring loaded so careful manipulation in the open position is required. Although enough for young people learning to bake, probably not ideal for the more experienced ones making large quantities or even certain breads. We tried making ... bread and ended up making the dough by hand. After a few minutes the mixer was struggling to turn. However on more simple recipies like cakes, cornbreads, and breakfast items the mixer performed as expected. The small bowl (3 qt. usable) and plastic mixer head is really what brought down my review. Overall not a bad product for what it is but probably will need to be upgraded to an intermediate or professional level mixer within the next few months.

My husband chose this mixer for me as a gift. I was very pleased when it arrived. It was the perfect color, had the attachments that I needed, I basically loved everything about it. After unpacking the mixer and checking attachments etc. I placed it on my counter in the space I had designated for it's place of honor. Woe is me!!!....It did not fit. The mixer was about 2 inches taller than space I had available. The height was not something I (or my husband) had considered. The mixer is much to heavy to move around easily and if it had fit I could just move it in and out on the counter. No such luck. It was with great sadness that I had to return the Mixer. I was thrilled that Overstock.com made my return very easy and rec'd my credit promptly. The customer service was grade A. I will definitely make other purchases with Overstock !!!!

I was a bit leery of buying "refurbished", but ordered it because it comes with a 6-mo. warranty and O.co offers a 2-yr extended warranty for under $. My daughter pointed out that family members have K-Aid mixers that are up to 30 years old and still perfect. Sold me. I tried it the day I received it - looks brand new, works perfectly. Extremely pleased.

I love the 4 1/2 qt bowl size of this mixer and I was surprised and pleased with the "stir" speed, that my older mixer doesn't have. I also love the apple green color. The mixer works effortlessly on mixing cookie, as well as pie dough and I am completely happy with it.
