These are great chairs, made of solid oak and leather as the description says and very comfortable. We are very happy with their appearance, comfort and overall with their quality. They are not, however, true "heirloom" quality pieces as the manufacturer would have you believe. They are made in China, and while the workmanship is good, there are slight flaws that are more indicative of a mass production facility (albeit "by hand") than of a true handmade piece of mission furniture. It is true that a real handmade American mission oak and leather chair would retail for the list price shown here, but not a set of chairs made in China on an assembly line. So, while we are happy with our purchase, and the quality is good, the chairs seem overpriced for what they really are.
These chairs arrived fully assembled, beautifully oiled, smelling great and are architecturally brilliant. Incredible value. I bought them as accent pieces or occasional chairs rather than as dining room chairs and everyone wants to sit in them; they are quite regal. The leather seats are a lovely warm deep chestnut color that goes with everything. The manufacturer is to be commended.
