Disappointing
If the fabric were white as it appears, it would go fine with the shiny silver base. Instead it is grey and does not really match. The fabric is very wrinkled in places and will take some work to stretch smooth. Very disappointing. Certainly not worth the money paid.

Not What I Expected, But...
This lamp is not what I expected when I ordered it. When I first took it out of the (well-packaged) box, I thought it was oh-my! ugly. The "Nickel" is actually more like SHINY silver...and NOT the sterling variety. Initially I thought it looked cheap. I believe the description of the embroydery on the shade termed it "purple". It is not. It looks black. And please note that it ONLY takes one CFL bulb, with minimum wattage, so illumination is fairly limited. That said, the base and the shade appear to be well-made, and it is fairly heavy. And every day that goes by, I grow a bit fonder of it. We have a rather "eclectic" home, so it seems to be finding it's place among our other odd treasures. If you have a very traditional, or Colonial type theme in your house, I would hesitate to recommend it, unless it was REALLY cheap, then I would say "try it...you might like it!"

Disappointing
Not a bad looking lamp, but looks cheaper and the shade darker than in the picture. I bought three different lamps at the same time and the other two are exactly as they look in photos, but not this one.
