The biggest drawback to this frame is the need to attach the feet to the headboard. It would be a much better product if it were solid (probably more expensive, too!). The Allen wrench provided was too big for the small, weird angle cut-out on the headboard. We had our own set and between the two of us, the four hexes took about two hours to finally set properly. I don't like the aesthetic of the four cut-outs on the frame - it would have been better on the outside to give the appearance of a solid headboard. However, after that, with the use of a electric screwdriver, the frame is solid and well-made. We are happy with this as a guest bedroom option.

I ordered this bed because of the reviews here, knowing that putting it together would be difficult and time consuming. It arrived in 3 well protected boxes with all items included and intact. All of the reviewers were correct...it's a beautiful looking bed but a pain in the neck to put together!! The headboard was the most difficult with those darn ratchet screw thingys (?). That took me almost 2 hours to do. The rest of the bed went together much easier and only took me an extra hour. I did it myself and a did a pretty good job of it. I liked that there were extras of mostly everything in case one got lost or misplaced. Highly recommended!!

This is the first "new" bed I've ever purchased and I really really got my money's worth with this. I shopped for quite some time, and when I saw this, my mind was made up instantly. This bed is BEAUTIFUL and VERY WELL MADE. I purchased a new pillowtop mattress with the box built in and it fit perfectly. There's no need for a dust ruffle, and you can either tuck comforter or blankets in or leave out for an optional look. I usually tuck the cover when I have company and really want to show off the the entire beauty of the frame as it's takes a little extra time to make it look tidy. Just leaving the comforter hang around the frame is a fine look too. You will not go wrong with this purchase, and at 700.00 reg. price, what a buy! The only challenge is putting this together as it is time consuming , but be patient and follow the directions. This rubber wood is so rich and sturdy. Thanks, again Overstock. The bed is beautiful and sturdy. Well worth the money! It was a bit difficult to put together as other reviews have said. I purchased some additional tools to help with the headboard. You will certainly need a flexible angle tool and 5mm and 4mm hex bits for your drill (be sure it is narrow so it will work in the small holes)!!! This will cut assembly time in 1/2. Also, I hate to admit it but, I put the headboard on backward! It was my fault because I was not paying close attention. But, the headboard legs have no distinction for left and right. Just be sure to pay attention and make sure you put the legs on the correct sides. Just a note, we did take it apart and fix it. (used some extra glue)...and everything turned out just fine. VERY fast shipping and well packaged!

After reading the reviews I too was worried, when the boxes arrived (very well packed and undamaged) I started putting it together. Since I knew that I would probably need some different tools I was ready and assembly was a breeze. If you don't have a flexible extension for your electric screwdriver or drill get one it will save you a long time trying to assemble the headboard.... Overall great purchase for the price.

This is an extremely good looking bed for the price. It is very sturdy and does not wobble. I love it. The only issue was putting it together. The headboard alone took me three hours off and on because of the location and ease (or should I say non-ease) of putting the three pieces of it together. Once that was over, setting the rest up was a breeze. I assemble the bed by myself. It is well worth the money.

No particle board here. This bed looks / functions great for the price. The assembly is mostly straight forward, but grab an electric screwdriver for using the slats. As long as you've had experience putting furniture together, there should be no assembly issues. Put together properly, this bed is bullet proof. Some reviews have mentioned that you'll trip over the legs. I too am one of those people. Once I got used to it, and learned how to stay away from the corners, problem avoided. Very, very pleased with the quality of this bed. Was everything I hoped it would be in a platform bed. Solid wood and very sturdy and comfortable. One thing, if I move I suppose I will have to disassemble the entire bed. Very pleased with this purchase. Would highly recommend to a friend.

This bed was a little difficult to put together due to confusing and inaccurate instructions, but once we figured out where each peg and bolt went and used a little extra super glue (a very small amount was included - really too little for what was needed), it came together nicely, and the finished product made it worth all the hassle. Now that it's set up with its new memory foam-gel mattress, it's terrific! It seems strong, certainly strong enough to hold two hefty people and a big dog (not that it has to hold such hefty people!). The bed looks gorgeous in the room, like a much more expensive piece of furniture. We're still waiting for a new quilt set, so can't say how it will look fully made up, but my guess is it'll be even more gorgeous! I recommend this bed highly, if you have the time to put it together and can deal with strange Malaysian instructions! The only negative I can think of is that now that it's assembled, it's never leaving the room it's in, even if we were to move! Due to permanently glued wooden pegs, there would be no way to take the bed apart without breaking it, and it would need to be disassembled to get through a standard doorway. But if you're planning on staying where you live, BUY THIS BED! It truly is lovely, and at an amazing price.

I have to say that with some of my past experiences purchasing furniture, I was very tentative buying this bed. Was I ever surprised when this came in. The quality is better then I though it would be and better then a lot of furniture that I have paid much more for from a furniture store. We have had this bed from more then a year now so I can honestly say that we are very happy with this purchase. It still looks exactly the same as the day we received it. The Milton bed arrived as promised in 3 boxes on the promised date. Everything was packed securely and labeled. My husband used the rubber mallet, ratchet screw driver, and allen wrenches provided. He did not use the glue but a better wood glue. It took him 2 1/2 hours to assemble and he only needed my help when attaching the headboard to the frame. He took his time. Yes, there was a mistake in the directions on page 4 or 5 but you can easily catch it as the bed will not go together any other way. Was very happy with the color of the wood grain. It is a deep red mahogany or cherry color not the black lacquer that was pictured on our monitor. Actually any of those colors would have worked in our room. We had been searching for an Asian looking bed for some time. We didn't want anything too ornate. I have a very ornate Asian dresser with painted designs, and Asian women and brass large hinges. My husband has a simple dark wood chest of drawers that the Milton bed matches perfectly. We did look up what Rubber wood was and was pleased to find out it is a hard wood used to make nice furniture out of. The bed does not sit too low. We are happy not to have to use a box spring anymore. In fact our 11 yr old mattress now has a new life and feels even better on the slats of the platform bed. There is a lot of room under the bed now with out the box springs I can fit shoe boxes stacked two high. I happen to like the way the foot board looks with the ends sticking out a little past the sides. Yes I've banged my shins on them when using a bedspread that goes all the way down to the floor so now I just have to be careful when going around the corners. I also like the way it looks with a blanket tucked in so you can really see the whole bed frame. Bottom line? We LOVE this bed. It makes me VERY HAPPY when I walk into the room to look at it. The price WAS GREAT. This is the first item we ever ordered from OVERSTOCK . COM. The reviews really helped us make the decision. We were so happy we just ordered, and received a new lamp from OVERSTOCK .COM that we are also happy with. This is a wonderful looking Asian style bed and great quality for the money.

This bed was fairly easy to put together, although my husband used a bendy thing on his drill to screw in the headboard pieces. The bed is very sturdy, lighter than the picture, but it's nice looking.

This is a very nice Sturdy Bed. One silly flaw makes this bed undesirable. I am using this bed since 2008. As other revewers point it out, legs at the foot of the bed stick out several inches on either side. Everybody came around this bed has wounded their legs unknowingly walking assuming that this bed has no protrusions. What can I do ? I desired to through this away in garbage, but my wife loved this bed (in fact, I too liked it when I sleep on it). Good for her as she is a slow and careful walker. I took around 5 to 7 hard hits on my legs (Luckily no broken bones). Hopefully that made my wife smile. But the point is it is too dangerous and highly undesirable. I wish I should have considered user reviews seriously.

I love this bed - Just as described - great quality - I have since ordered the two nightstands. Assembly was no big deal - just took a little time to make sure we were organized and then just worked right through it. Looks great -bed is slightly larger than old one - got rid of a new box springs we had purchased about a year ago and just used our deep pillow top mattress . Added a couple of slats to make it even more stable and we are getting the best sleep we have had in years. It is heavy to move - but sliders worked. Definitely would recommend as a buy.

See the legs at the foot of the bed? Those stick out several inches on either side. Every sincel person who has slept in this bed has wounded their shin on the bed. It's literally dangerous to have a bedspread lest someone gash themselves. I wrap a pillow or sheet around it and have thought of getting rubber bumpers but honestly don't think they would be protective enough. The bed took really long for a professional carpenter to put together. Other than that it's sturdy and looks good.
