Purchased the bed for Christmas for my fiance - had to get email updates because the bed kept selling out. My best buy on Overstock. This is one of the nicest beds ever, period. I could see it in the West Elm or Room & Board or Crate & Barrel catalogs (for $1200 plus, naturally). It is truly sturdy (SOLID wood - absolutely no particle board - and it doesn't move or wiggle around!!!) The rubberwood has a beautiful grain! It was so securely packaged (came in two LARGE and HEAVY boxes) NOTHING was damaged at all! It took my fiance 3-4 hrs. to put together with no power tools whatsoever. The worst problem was fitting the headboard to the rest of the bed. One note: you don't need a box spring with this bed - and the thinner and lower profile the mattress, the better. The only thing I can complain about is that I ended up wishing I'd bought one for myself! The color is gorgeous - between a chestnut and espresso, very glowy. The style is somewhere between Modern and Asian, with a little Wright thrown in there, too. You will get a ton of compliments - as long as you have a lower-profile mattress, note, probably not a pillow top, because it obscures the headboard, which is not as tall as it could be... One note: Bed will be very difficult to take apart once, or if, we move. I recommend bolting it together and leaving it where it is!!!

I wanted to wait a month or two to write this review so that I could comment on how the bed has held up. I bought this for my boyfriend and I two months ago and it is amazing!!! We still have our full mattress on it though (waiting till we can get a really nice one). We got it in three packages- very tightly and securely packed. We screwed on the headboard backwards and then had the undo it and flip it around but after that it took us an hour to put the whole thing together. It doesnt shake or squeek and is completely sturdy!

If you plan to put this in a smaller room beware. The foot-board corners stick a few inches passed the mattress. When you walk around the corners you will bump it with your shin every time. Its not easy to get used to because the blankets cover it just enough.I wish I had chosen a different bed. My shins are bruised now and we just built it last night.Though it is beautiful to look at and it was very easy to put together.

This review will be short. Still putting bed together. I bought it with the matching nightstand. The bed, at least for me, is difficult to put together. Been working on it on and off all day. Lots of pieces. I'd hate to move. Also, one of the endcaps on the headboard wasn't included, but I chatted online with Overstocked.com representative and she ordered the endcap from the manufacturer within minutes. The bed is beautiful and once I get it all put together, I'll be much happier.

The quality of this furniture was far superior to similar priced items we saw in the local retail stores. Delivery was fast and all the pieces were included. The wrench/tool they included was difficult to use and like others recommend a different tool would be useful. Other than that is was easy to assemble and the quality is great.

The bed is what everybody wrote about it- great quality wood (very smooth), lighter shade of what it shows than in the picture, assembly is about an hour and a half with an electric drill, fast shipping and all in good boxes.The bed is sturdy, good quality bed. The slats is strong to hold the mattress. There is no need for a box spring. I don't have any flaws or complaints. I have been searching for a platform bed for months and this is the ideal one. Also I never ordered furnitures from Overstock before. I was leary and worried that the bed isn't what it says it is and the reviews may be so good to be true. Overstock exceeded my expectations. I'm very happy that I took the chances, love the bed and would do business with Overstock again. Thank you.

My boyfriend and I bought this for our bedroom. It was shipped within a week of us buying it and it was packaged really well. We were able to put the bed together in about an hour with the use of a power screwdriver. The assembly is very straightforward and goes pretty quick. Even though a box spring is not used, the bed is very comfortable. The color is great and the whole thing looks really good all assembled. We are very happy with our purchase!

I bought this bed frame a few months ago and it has proven to be a beautiful and sturdy piece of furniture. It is a nice, solid wood and goes along well with the woodwork in our 1920's bungalow. My husband & I don't have a lot of experience assembling things so it wasn't exactly quick for us to assemble, but it was a reasonable amount of assembly for a solid piece of furniture (no dreaded particle board here!). This was a steal for the look and quality.

Purchased this bed recently and am very happy. For the price incredible style and look. The service from Overstock.com was great. Headboard had a small crack and immed. after contacting them, a replacement was sent and arrived in perfect condition. This is the first item I have brought from Overstock and am very satisfied.

We purchased this bed for our daughter. She saw it and fell in love with the style. Once you receive it you realize how beautiful the wood is. It took my husband and our son a good 30 mins to install, with a rubber mallet, phillips screwdriver, electric drill would be very useful becuase there's a lot of screws involved, the rest of the tools were included in the kit. It is true that you will not need a box sping. If you use a regular boxspring, the headboard will be swallowed by the height of matress.

LOVE this bed! The picture makes it look OK, but not that exciting. It's MUCH nicer in person. Several other reviews say this........and thanks to that info. I took the plunge and ordered this bed.Shipping was speedy, assembly was typical for stuff of this type. My husband and I put it together in about an hour. The directions are clear and easy to follow. We used wood glue instead of the included super glue. Also, the other reviews are correct - you would not want to screw all those slats in without a power screwdriver or drill with screwdriver bit!!Bed is both sturdy and attractive. The slats are great and there is no need for a box spring. The flat bed post tops are perfect spot for our little matching globe reading lights. Overall look is strong and solid, without being overpowering.

This bed is great for my guest room. I couldn't be happier with the appearance and quality. It is very well made and sturdy. I'm using an 11 inch memory foam mattress, also from Overstock, and it works perfectly without a box spring. As far as the assembly, everything was well packaged and clearly labeled. I put it together by myself using pillows to prop the side rail while I attached it to the headboard and footboard. I love this bed so much that I was considering getting the nightstands that go with this set but reading the reviews that comment on how difficult they are to assemble is making me a bit hesitant.Bottom line: I felt like it was a risk to order a piece of furniture on-line but I am happy to say that it worked out very well for me!

I received the bed within 5 days of ordering. It is an exceptional value, and I agree with the others on the grain and color of the wood. There are red undertones, so if you're looking for the darker/espresso color - this is not the right one. This is the second bed I have ordered from Overstock, and I would not hesitate to order again.

We just ordered this bed one week ago, and it arrived two days later in perfect condition and was a breeze to put together. The headboard looks taller in the photo than it really is, especially when you have bedding and pillows on it. Simple, elegant and very sturdy. A great price for solid wood. Thanks again Overstock!

I bought this with the Dannette night stand and dresser, which is walnut-cherry colored. It's a very, very, close match. I would say perfect, but if you stare at it, which I was doing, the bed is a touch redder. The color of the bed is a bit lighter than in the picture. Definitely have an electric screwdriver and for the assembly. Two people would make the assembly easier too. A pre-drilled hole was missing in part G, but since I had an electric screwdriver, I was able to make my own hole. So make sure 2 holes are in part G. It really wasn't much of a hassle, plus I didn't want to have a half assembled bed while I wait for a part. The most tedious part was using the hex wrench for the screws in the head board. And of course, my friend had the head board backwards. So make sure you have it on the correct way. Since we had a few minor issues, the assembly took about 2.5-3 hours. Under the bed has plenty of room for storage too. I have a box spring and a mattress, which looks to high. You should be fine without a box spring. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. I love the bed and the fact that it looks great with the night stand.

Just wanted to add to the kudos on this one... got it July 07 and it's awesome, great looking, solid, classy, HIGH quality... wasn't the easiest to put together, but that means that it is SOLID (just get some help and it's more that it takes time rather than being difficult.) HIGHLY recommend - and I am quite picky - good one

This is a great bed and an even better deal. The construction is rock-solid, the instructions clear and well-written, and it looks fantastic. I looked at a LOT of platform beds all over the 'Net and am very glad I purchased this one! A power screwdriver is the only power tool you really need. Overstock's price and shipping (two days!) were first-rate. You really can't go wrong with this bed!

Tax time meant new bed! Read all the awesome reviews on this bed and they were absolutley right!!! best investment for the money :) Solid wood! Gorgeous in every way! We are beyond pleased! Took about two hours to assemble and a few shin bruises to get used to it but all in all its an a+!

Solid wood, solid feel, very nice looking. I strongly recommend two people for assembly. An electric screwdriver makes the screwing of the slats at the end manageable. The only tricky part of the assembly is early on in assembly when you use the ball head allen type wrench that is supplied. Also, don't get upset when the center legs don't touch the ground. On my bed they made it down there with someone on the bed. I am using this as a platform bed with a memory foam mattress from Overstock, without a box spring. I cut the cardboard from one of the boxes the bed came in to fit over the slats for under the mattress. Works fine. Definitely recommend this bed -- it's stylish and solid and a great value.
