This is a beautiful set of dishes. It is a little heavier than some fine china, but I think it makes it more user/family friendly. Also love that it is dishwasher safe, who wants to wash all the china by hand after a big holiday dinner ? not me. I haven't seen any serving dishes in this pattern. Not a problem if you have crystal/glass serving pieces, or all white. Sets a WOW of a table.

I absolutely love this dinnerware. I purchased 2 sets, just so I would not run out of pieces before I had a dishwasher load. They are very sturdy and while I sometimes clank them together or on our ceramic counter top (not on purpose of course) they still haven't chipped or broken. I only wish that they had been microwave safe, since I do a lot of reheating of leftovers. I know another family member that had a set where their better half put them in the microwave and ruined the gold gilt all around the edges. The other draw back of purchasing 2 sets was that one set of the large plates is more shallow than the other. It seems to have a higher bottom ledge (if that's what you call it). So when I stack them in my china cabinet they do look offset (one higher than the other) not uniformly separated. I would have given this dinnerware 5 stars, except for these differences and the microwave issue. All in all, I have received many compliments on them.

Great dish set for the money, and beautiful to have on display when they're not in use...They're definitely a orange-red but beautiful with a rich bold color. I wouldn't use them everyday, but if you wanted to you could because they're nice and heavy. I hope to find another color/pattern I liked it so much.

My boyfriend and I have looked at this set in many various stores and were always concerned about the price. When I saw it on Overstock, the price was outrageously inexpensive and we jumped on it. The set arrived in perfect condition and we can't wait to use it for special occassions.

I have been watching the price on these dishes for over a year on several different websites. When I bought them, the price had never been lower anywhere. I have other Mikasa dishes, so i knew the quality would be excellent. I was not disappointed. I have wanted a set of dishes that I could use for holidays when I have my entire family for dinner. I bought two 40-piece sets, and I do love them. They will be mainly for Christmas, but with different colored table linens, they will be wonderful for several holidays. Every piece is beautiful, and even though the outer package arrived in terrible shape, the inner packaging was secure and every piece arrived without a nick or a chip.

I waited for a while to submit this review because I wasn't sure if there was some catch with the Mikasa dinner set that I got. It was a brand new, very well packed, extremely elegant and classy dinner set. Of course, something this good only gets used for formal dinners - wouldn't recommend it for daily use. The red color with golden design does make it a little loud for semi-formal yet low key gatherings. But definitely worth having as a second set for these occasions. Good buy!

I was very pleased with this set. I loved the price as well as the quality of it all. The shipment did take sometime before I received but, that was due the inclement weather at the time. I was able to track the shipment. When I opened the box every item was intact nochipping or breaks occurred during shipment. I painstakingly examined each and every piece. I love the color the photo was true and that much more better iup close and in person. I will be serving Easter Dinner on my beautiful purchase. The price was outstanding. Before purchasing the set I researched this set on other sites and overstock overall proved to be the better choice. I will be purchasing the bowls that match in the near future. This dinnerware set is absolutely beautiful. They are very sturdy. I really liked the feel of the cup & saucer, my tea tasted exception. Haven't tried the dishwasher yet. Just hand washing. But I am using them for everyday, everyday is special too. Not just the holidays.

I ordered two sets for a total of 16 place settings and less than a week later, they arrived at my doorstep! I was a little concerned that the china might have been damaged in transit, but they were very well packed and every piece was perfect. The Red Parchment pattern itself is warm and elegant, just right for special dinners.

The Mikasa dinnerware set is just lovely; I love the wonderful patterned border and gold enhancements. They make a gorgeous and elegant table setting for entertaining. The various pieces were packed in separate boxes with plenty of inserts to keep them safe during shipment. Everything arrived in perfect condition and with the usual prompt shipment from Overstock. A great purchase at a fantastic price for an 8 place setting of Mikasa!!

I love this china! I have it in the silver too, so I can mix and match. It's beautiful on the table, and I can put it in the dishwasher. What more could I ask for?

I was so happy with the lovely setting I was able to provide for our guests last night. This dinnerware was a large part of that. It looked stunning on a deep red tablecloth and I used white napkins. Crystal stemware and candlestick holders beautifully added the shimmer. I like red and use it throughout the colder months not only on holidays. This dinnerware is elegant yet simple enough so it is not to look gaudy or showey. It is very warm and inviting. The pieces are the right size for a party. Not too big or deep and they are easy to clean. Right in the dish washer as recommended which I appreciated because there are a lot of pieces! I am looking forward to the next party--

I bought two sets of these and I like them quite a lot. They were very well packaged, however, one soup plate was broken in transit. The pattern is pretty and vibrant. The quality of the porcelain is decent and the price is phenomenal. I've had them in the dishwasher 2-3 times already and they seem to be holding up quite well. The only drawback of the buying experience was that the bar codes on them are almost impossible to peel off (even using Goo-be-gone).

Its not really what I would call fine bone china, but its very pretty and I use it everyday as well as for casual party ware. The only problem were the stickers on every single piece.Took me several hours to remove them and I had to use a special adhesive remover.
