Michael O'Toole Venetian Light Framed Canvas

I'll add to those that the colors and interesting play of light and shadow in this piece are really wonderful. The colors are vibrant without being gaudy or too distracting. I'd say that the actual colors are very close to that you see in the online picture. I have absolutely no complaints about the picture itself. However, two surprises for me upon opening the packaging were 1) Wow, this is bigger than I expected and 2) the 'antique gold' frame is actually much closer to a bronze color. One neat aspect of this painting for me is that I spent time in Venice about 10 years ago and have a picture of a building whose perspective is awfully similar to what is depicted here. I'm thinking about displaying the picture on an end table that is in front of the wall where the picture is hanging. My imagination obviously isn't up to snuff because the canvas with frame was quite a bit larger than I'd envisioned, despite having mapped out the listed measurements against the wall to be used. Also, regarding the decision of framing the piece rather than let the canvas only version stand on its own merits, I think maybe framing the picture at all takes a bit away from the overall impact of its overall look - or maybe its design of the frame itself. But I chose the framed option because other reviewers at the link above noted that the piece did not feature the 'gallery' wrap...i.e., the sides of the unframed piece are white rather than having the picture wrap around the edges. Plus, I figured that that the minuscule additional $20 for the frame was a better deal than I could get if I had it framed myself. I've given this a 4-star rating only because the color of the frame is different than what I expected.
