Looks exactly like the spine towers in fancy modern furniture stores - just less expensive. Got the silver and am very happy with it.

Very tacky piece of furniture. Particle board with paper veneer and big silver screws that they give you brown stickers to cover.

I am very pleased with these shelves. They added elegance to my dining room, especially we all the beautiful china, crystal and silver pieces I decorated it with. Looks much more expensive than it really is.

So its not steel or even chrome legs its silver painted wood. The directions were all mixed up and it took me about 3 hours to put together but overall the product works and looks close to the picture.

I am happy with the purchase of this shelf. I also ordered the coordinating bench. The only reason I would not give it 5 stars is due to the coat hooks. They have a nice silver look, but appear slightly slanted when you put them on the shelf. It is not that noticeable though especially if coats are hung on them.

This product looks good, but is made poorly. The partical board construction breaks easily. I had to re-drill several holes that were the wrong size. It was a nightmare to put together. Although the legs look metal they are partical board painted silver...and only fully painted on one side.

The shelves don't support too much weight, but the overall effect is really nice -- sleek and modern, and a perfect knock-off of the Crate & Barrel taller design. The only thing is, it's more of a textured almost pewter color, more gray than silver, so if you're looking to match chrome or nickel, this won't work.

Overall the product was excellent and was as described on the website. It was quite sturdy, but a heavier base would be more helpful when on carpet for added stability (It did come with wall attachments as a safety measure though). One gripe is that the silver supports for the shelves are not completely inset into the shelves themselves, and can be seen from below, but this is a minor issue (not enough to take off a star).

This is a NICE cabinet however: like other reviewers the price is too high for MDF the bottom silver part that looks like metal is not metal but silver painted wood instructions consisted of about 8 full size pages with NO written instructions - give yourself plenty of time to put this together! MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: after opening the box, the pieces all smell like "bottom of the cargo hold on a wet ship" mold smell...UGH . I wiped down all the pieces and of course after you get them out of the box the smell starts to dissipate however, after completing assembly, I can still smell that smell every time I open a drawer so my next action is to wipe out the drawers with antibacterial something and set them out in the sun for a day. GOOD things: The cabinet is nice looking and I like the roominess of the drawers. Would I buy this again? NO, unless they knock down the price by at least HALF!

This was exactly what I was looking for to fill an empty wall in my living room. It is in a pathway, so being 12 inches deep is perfect as well as the height. I put it together by myself -- it took me quite a while but I didn't have a power screw driver which I would recommend to anyone buying this. I only had trouble with one screw that I think was smaller than the rest so the little silver cap did not work but I wasn't too worried about that, it's very sturdy. And I love the way it looks, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I saw my first book tower in a retail store in black, and knew it was just what I needed, but it seemed very pricey. On checking Overstock I saw the same idea, but in silver grey instead of black, and at just over half the price. Now that I have it I realize that the color barely shows, and makes no difference. It was delivered in near record time. I assembled it myself, and it was quite easy, even though I had read a review that said it was difficult. Believe me, it's easy. I am very happy with the purchase and the transaction.

I bought this product for the way it appeared in the photo and it's size. I assumed that when O.com said wood it would not be medium density fiberboard. It took me hours to assemble all the drawers and then the main structure. At the end I was assembling the metal looking base which is really silver painted MDF and it was cracking as I slowly put in the screws. It cracked in a few other places as I put in screws as well - I did not over tighten - it just is not well made. I have it up and loaded and am just grateful that it's standing and the drawers all work fine. So I guess it's BUYERS BEWARE - when the copy says "durable wood" it's really just sawdust and wood particles press together.

Definitely not a room divider. Once assembled, the back of this piece has portions of wood which are unfinished, and the finished portions have large silver hardware (while the 'solid backing' pieces are fully finished in the laminate, all of the vertical supports as well as the horizontal shelves, are all un-finished, raw furniture 'osb' type stuff). Quite distasteful to the eye thus doesn't qualify as a room divider. As a piece which would reside against a wall, it is pretty nice. Note for such nice finish and heavy wood, some of the hardware is a bit wimpy, so be prepared to supplement with your own and have some wood glue as well.

Shelves did take some TIME to assemble but overall simple just tedious and time consuming. I appreciated wood glued was included. I was somewhat disappointed in the finish. I ordered black and it appears more like a dark brown or mocha. I'm also bothered that the silver cam locks appear to me to stick-out like a sore thumb. I'm considering painting over either locks or possible paint the whole unit the black I expected. But for the price (and I used a discount coupon) I guess a good deal. (Kinda wished I would have spent the few extra $$$ for other / silimiar shelving units on Overstock.) Would recommend with above concerns being acceptable to interested parties.

After we opened the two boxes and laid out the shelves and the hardware and began the first step of the assembly we found that the two screws that come with for attaching the side legs didn't even fit into the holes (they were about 2 inches short). We had to go to the hardware store and try and find screws that would fit the threads. The only screws we found were silver and we had to add a washer. Of course everything was unpacked and opened and there was no way I was packing it up and shipping it back. I would recommend not ripping everything open and laying it out until you open the screws and make sure they fit. I have a beautiful shelving unit with black painted screws...luckily you can't see them where I have it placed!

I was quite disappointed with this bookshelf. I read so many reviews and was looking roward to this shelving unit. First, two of the shelves came damaged so I have to awkwardly place books over the scratches. I was also disappointed with the color of the shelves themselves. The color hints more towards golden that true rich brown. I compared the pictures to a separate piece of furniture I purchased on O.co and they looked almost identical in color, but in person they are least three shades off. I was also not happy with the color of the frame. It's silver, but the black overlay is very streaky and you can see the lines from the horrible paint job and doesn't look worn or antiqued. Overall I think this looks nice online and from a distance, but not from up close. It is sturdy and can hold many things and is a decent buy for the price.

This product appears to made of veneers with a metal bottom. In truth, there is no veneer, it is 100% MDF with a plastic paper over it printed to look like wood. It is not shiny as it is in the picture and the silver part at the bottom is actually wood. Once assembled, it works very well and the drawer quality is extremely good, it's just disappointing that it is not really veneer. Overstock needs to remove that from the description. All in all I would recommend it but it's better to know the facts and not be disappointed. Of the glass inserts, one had a 6 inch scrape in it that you can tell was part of the manufacturing process. I had to touch up alot of the surfaces with a dark brown marker. Especially, the inside drawers, they were extremely marked up from the manufacturer. I would buy it again, but would probably prime and paint it a glossy black before assembly since it's not real wood veneer.

Delivery was very fast and both boxes arrived undamaged. It went together fairly well, a couple of the drawer bottoms didn't line up and had to be slightly forced. One pre-drilled hole was missing, had to drill that myself. Total assembly time of about 4 hours for one person. Worth noting, I purchased this piece for storage in the company restroom and had assumed that the silver legs were some sort of metal that could stand up to wet mops. To my surprise, the legs are spray painted particle board... sturdy enough, but I expect that the paint won't hold up to much abuse. The description did not describe the legs as metal, I just assumed, so it is accurate. Over all, it's a good looking piece that was well worth the fairly low price, but I wouldn't expect it to withstand much daily use.

This bookshelf was delivered to me today and is already being put to use an hour later! The directions were easy to read. I put it together by myself in about an hour (a few interruptions from baby, too!) Normally I have to bug my husband to put things together for me. But after reading several other reviews about the ease of assembly, I tried it myself. I feel so liberated! That said, there were some minor issues. Two of the screw holes seem to be more shallow than the others, which makes the top shelf a tad bit lopsided. I would say that I made a mistake, but I screwed in the others just fine. There is a tiny scratch on the top shelf. I may use a magic marker to fill in or may just leave it alone. (I have the walnut case.) I also don't like that you can see the silver screws. Wish they had a covering for them. All in all, for the price it's a nice bookshelf. I really like the design. I was specifically looking for the "x-cross." Hopefully we'll be able to fix the 2 screws I mentioned.

My husband put this corner wall mount shelf in our dining room in the corner between two windows. It looks great and I am able to put some of those little items that you never seem to have space for and they end up on your table. I put a photo, a handmade vase, a small dish from Ireland, a few items brought back from Costa Rica by my daughter and a decorated glass bowl filled with dried flowers on the shelves. It has caught the eye of everyone who has come in the door. I also know that I can change what's on it anytime I want. As simple as it is to assemble, having instructions would have made it easier. You need to set it up so that the the top piece has a small screw hole in the center and that the bottom piece gets the large silver circular screw for decoration. The rest of the pieces have pre-drilled screw holes that make it simple and then they have walnut covered pieces that hide the screw tops. Aside from lack of directions, it's a great piece and I might order a few more in the future.
