I live in a small condo and this shelf fits perfectly without being overwhelming in size. The shelf arrived quickly and was easy to assemble alone. It's not a chocolate/espresso color, which I'd prefer. It has more of a cherry tone. After searching for something like this piece for a long time, the color works okay with my decor.

Loved this item. I'm 65 and had it put together in one hour by myself . The only thing I was disappointed in was the color. It was not a true walnut color. It was very dark compared to the real walnut furniture I own. It was more of a dark expresso color. I could not believe all the room I had for displaying pictures. I got this because I replaced an old style entertainment center with an LCD TV and I lost the top of the center for displaying the pix. Now this leans right next to the TV Stand.

For the price, this is a decent bookshelf with a nice style and it will do the trick. Fine furniture it's not (some little flecks of the finish/color came off as I unpacked the parts) but it does look pretty nice and seems sturdy enough for now. I will echo other reviews in saying the color is a bit more reddish than espresso but it just so happens I needed to put it next to another piece of furniture that is relatively that same hue anyway, so no biggie. The instructions say you'll need two people to assemble, but I was able to do it on my own in ~90 minutes (and I am NOT the handy type by any stretch of the imagination!). I got a little confused about how to use the cam lock but was able to find a really helpful YouTube video that got me on the right track. Overall, I am satisfied with this product and what I paid for it.

This bookcase was extremely difficult to put together. I have put together many IKEA items and although those can be tricky too, once I saw that this came with glue I knew this was going to be quite a project. The instructions were easy enough to understand but actually making them work was another story. It took a long time and probably should have been a two person job. Looks nice enough from afar and the dark espresso brown color matches our other furniture, but the actual "finish" on this bookcase is cheap and low quality. I wouldn't recommend it.

This shelf unit is a perfect fit in my small condo, giving me some extra precious storage space. I put it together myself (I'm a girl) and had no problems. All needed hardware came with it, directions were clear. I did use my power screwdriver, which was a big help. Just take your time and don't rush through it. It's solid hardwood - very solid. I was pleased that it went together well - no wobbles. The color "walnut" matches my other Overstock furniture that is called "espresso", so if you're looking for that rich, dark finish, this is it. I'm very happy with this purchase and especially pleased with the low price versus high quality - as usual with the O.

Loved the ease of assembly, sturdiness, the true espresso colour and you may be interested to know that this leaning shelf does not stick out from the wall much at all-- no tripping!

This shelf is not real wood, but it looks good over all. It's a nice piece in an empty corner where you don't want something sitting on the floor. I use it to showcase knick-knacks in the dining room. Family and guests have commented that it matches all the rest of my espresso wood furniture nicely. It arrived in a small box and was easy to assemble in the front while watching television. Total assembly time was about 15 minutes.

I didn't know what to expect when i ordered this shelf but now that i've set it up i can safely say i absolutely love it. It's modular, sturdy, very aesthetically pleasing, and incredibly functional. the only complaint i have is about the stickers they include to cover up the screws. I ordered the shelf in espresso and the stickers included were black so they stick out a little. Its a small complaint and you could easily just not use them, but it would be nice to have matching stickers. Set up was a bit time consuming but easy once we got in the groove.

I have been looking for a leaning shelf in this color for quite a while ... what a pleasant experience when it arrived and I opened the box to find a perfect match to a vanity purchased locally. This has just 'enough' red and is just dark enough while not like all the ultra-cherry red units or "almost black" expresso! It isn't the sturdiest unit, but it will work for the small decorations that I'm planning on displaying on it. I'm disappointed to see that the price is now a few dollars less than when I ordered it less than two weeks ago ... I don't appreciate the "pricing games" Overstock!

Git the bookcase assembled today and I like it except.... the color is NOT espresso, which I consider to be a black/brown color. This shelf is a reddish brown, much lighter than I wanted and lighter than the photos made it appear. But I can live with it, just disappointed because I wanted black/brown.

The color was wrong (espresso not red) and could have been better designed. The ink numbers on the pieces were sometimes illegible, but by process of elimination could be identified. The recessed screws often were too recessed to grab onto the hole they were intended to fill, so assembly was harder than it needed to be as the pieces wobbled and didn't hold together well. This is the only Overstock purchase product I've ever regretted.

Two places were difficult to put together but only one was obviously not right - the door on the left side did not hang correctly as the one on the right did. I tried a lot of adjustments before giving up. It doesn't look horrible, but it bothers me and I may revisit and drill new holes (one at a time) for the left side in hopes I can get a straighter match to the other side. It just slides too much for the adjustment mechanism to hold it in place high enough up. But it is beautiful and displays pottery very well - a stereo receiver on the bottom shelf even looks nice. The color is a beautiful rich very dark brown - espresso covers it perfectly. I have it placed between two large black bookshelves with a slightly different style about a foot apart and it looks better to me than built ins would have. It's a large wall and everything goes together perfectly.

I purchased two of these units. They are an expresso dark brown which is exactly the color I was looking for. These are nice looking and each took about 60 minutes to build between two people. The drawers roll well and the furniture is crafted of good materials. We have placed these in a guest room. The issues I found with this product were as follows: 1. Two screws were missing for one of the units. The screws are needed as the support for one of the drawers. We will be unable to put any weight into that particular drawer until we are able to purchase the screws to remedy the problem. 2. Another issue with the units that I had is that our baseboards are about 6" high from the floor. Therefore the back of the drawer does not clear the baseboard and the top of the bookcase is unable to lean against the wall as it is intended to do. Rather than returning the two ladder bookcases, which are otherwise perfect for the look and design of our guest room, we have decided to build a platform out of 2X4 pieces of wood and a flat plywood for each one to raise them enough to clear our baseboards. The platforms will be painted in black to match other accents within the room decor.

I like these book cases but I think they're a bit too high priced...otherwise nice cases. Love the color!

These are great shelves! They look very cute in an apartment or even one on each side of a TV. I have them separated with a desk in between. The color is a little darker than in the pic but that works out well because cherry furniture is usually not that bright. If you have furniture that has a red in it, get this color. If your furnuiture is espresso with no red tones - go for the walnut color. The final peice is a little hard to screw together but I have many decor items and books on the shelf - not worried at all about stability.

I love it, it's exactly what it looks like on the pic... It was fairly easy to put together myself. The color is a dark espresso as explained, and the hooks stand out nice from the color.. I also ordered the cubbie bench that goes with it and I am very happy with both items. It takes up an empty space I had no idea what to do with entering from the garage door. So I would definately recommend it.

This is a very difficult to get bookcase! I waited months before it was back in stock. Anyhow, when this thing shows up on your doorstep, you won't believe the size of the box! It's a beast. Assembly is straight forward but when it comes time to erect the bookcase, get another person to help. It's tall and very heavy! I love the dark espresso color and the contemporary style legs. It fits the bill perfectly in my home. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

This bookcase is a great buy. The photo is very accurate apart from the color which looks more like black in the picture. The actual color is a dark shade of espresso. It's solid wood and very sturdy. My husband took about an hour to assemble it by himself. He accidentally attached one of the shelves backwards but it's hardly noticeable.

This shelf exceeded my expectations, especially for the price. The style is really nice and once put together looks really great. Putting it together was a chore... not difficult but there were tons of pieces and it did take my very handy and capable husband the better part of an hour to assemble. As other reviewers have stated, have a power drill/screwdriver handy for this job! Also, just a note about color, every manufacturer has a different version of "espresso" and this is on the darker end of the spectrum, I would have called it black.

A very economical and stylish was to add storage and design to any space. Price was great. Easy to put together. Happy with the quality and construction thus far for the price (1 month in). The color is inaccurate. These are cherry colored. NOT expresso. Had I known thus I likely would have sought a different product. Luckily, the different wood tone fit fine in my space as the shelf is offset in a corner of the room.

I bought this to go with the A-frame espresso desk. Perfect match. I put all my books on this bookshelf and don't need bookends. My large Officejet printer wouldn't fit on the bottom shelf, but it holds all my large art books, even better.
