We got this air conditioner thinking it might not be strong enough to really keep our apartment cold, but man were we pleasantly surprised. It is like a freezer in our apartment and you can barely hear the thing run! It is heavy as can be, but works beautifully! I'm glad we didn't opt to spend more on a bigger unit because this puppy is all we need. Our apartment is a good sized 2 bedroom and this thing alone keeps us quite comfortable.

I cant say enough about this unit. We have an old victorian home and purchased 3 of these units to cool our home. We have never turned the 3rd one on. The cooling power these units have is great. You never have to push the units to cool the house a med/low setting and leave them alone they take care of the rest. We like a cool house and they do the job well. As for installation we had them installed so they were put in correctly, (we never remove them from the windows). They are extremely quiet and really cheap to operate.

I bought the big unit (12000 BTU) for my livingroom, the smaller (8000 BTU) unit for my bedroom. The big unit is great. Installation - it weighs about 90 lbs and I didn't want to recreate a Seinfeld episode by installing it myself, so I had a professional install it. It took him less than half an hour to fix brackets to the window frame and seal the unit. How well it cools - After leaving it running on medium fan/ cooling setting (don't judge - it's for my dogs - and I buy carbon off-sets out of guilt...), I came home to an apartment that was like a walk-in fridge - it was awesome! My apartment has a pretty open floorplan, the living/ dining/ kitchen/ entryway is about 650 sq feet and the unit cools that space on the medium or low fan cool setting, keeping the temperature around 74 when it's 94 and humid outside. I've only had it for a month, so I can't speak to its longevity, but so far so good and there's a 1 year guarantee. Noise - The unit is really quiet - especially for it's size. It's actually quieter than the 8000 BTU unit.

Works like a charm. Not noisy either. Another reminder that for many products, the internet is the way to go for savings while still not giving anything away on quality. I bought this in Oregon where many do not have a.c. already installed. After moving to Indiana, sold it to my father for half what I paid. (Purchased for $XXX) He has it in his tavern. Still works as good as new.

This is a great product for the size in comparison to the price when compared to others of similar size and strength. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who is in the market for a window unit air conditioner. I actually ordered this for my daughter in New York and got a chance to see it at work this last summer. It was very impressive. She seemed extremely pleased with it.

CALLED 866-Maytag1 and was given the bad news. I surely wasn't told at time of purchase, that this Maytag/Fedders unit was going out of business and NO parts NOR service would be available for it. Overstock.com just unloaded a bunch of these on un-suspecting customers!

I have had this window AC for about three months and I am in love. We have a 1,000 sf ground floor and put it in the living room as it was the only window large enough to fit (side note, though it says it will fit a 29" window, it lies, the window we put it in was 33' and it might go an inch or two smaller). Anyway this unit is awesome, I never turn it up above a medium air flow and my entire floor is cool all day. It's been a hot a humid summer here, well above 90 degrees and this unit has kept this house nice and comfy. My utilities are not out of control as I feared they might be. Also it's not loud, ok maybe if you crank it up you can hear the air flow, but it's nothing like the small cheap units that sound like a mack truck in your living room. This AC is well worth the cash.

This was my first overstock purchase. It was delivered in a couple of days which was awesome! This is the quietest portable air conditioned I have ever heard. It looks good - for an a/c. Cannot think of one complaint on this. Even the remote is awesome! Thanks overstock.com!

Great AC. Arrived quickly. I had it professionally installed since its large and heavy. Great power. I have high ceilings and it cools the room very quickly. Happy with it!

I just recently returned this unit to Overstock. Not only could it not keep my NYC apartment cool, it could not even keep the area directly in front of the unit cool. It would blow cold air out for 1 minute (yes I timed it) and then would switch over to the fan setting for 3 minutes. I could do nothing to stop this from happening. No matter how hot it was in my apartment it would blow cold air for 1 minute, then suck hot air from outside in for 3 minutes. The first night it was installed I slept in a pool of sweat. In short, avoid this product at all costs. I cannot stress how bad my experience was with this unit. Luckily I found a different unit and it works amazingly well. I should have known when the maintenance people who have worked in my building for 10+ years came to install it and said "Wow, I didn't know Maytag made air conditioners".

Well almost too cool for words. Wow I bought this air conditioner about 3 weeks ago. Now living in the northeast the last several days we're in history breaking temps up to 103 degrees this week. Well my new a/c is wonderful. Coming home from working 9 to 5 to a super cool environment helps relieve the stresses of the day. I set the timer based on when I feel I'll arrive home. The unit is very quiet which is also a plus. Thanks to Overstock this a/c which weighs about 95 lbs cost only $2.95. You can't beat that. the air conditioner arrived right on time and it works great, but it arrived with a small chip on the side. I needed to use it immediately so I couldn't return it.

The Maytag 12,000BTU Window Air Conditioner is wonderfully quiet while it cools my entire 1200 sq. ft. house. Installation was easy and the unit is compact and smaller than my last air conditioner. I definitely recommend this product.

This air conditioner is not only a great price and quiet but it cools our entire downstairs which is about 800 square feet. We are going through a heat wave on the east coast seeing high 90 degree temps and it hasn't effected the cooling in this unit one bit.

This was my first purchase of a window air conitioner. I trusted other reviews about this since I was a novice to AC units. It lives up to it reputation: quiet, easy to install, cools well, nice looking, and includes an easy to use remote. The construction is very sturdy and therefore is heavy so one needs a strong person to lift into window once the frame is installed. I would buy again.

The A/C unit was easy to install and after a couple of hours the room (a very large room) was nice and cool. The unit fit nice and snug in the window. Very nice unit and I would recommend.

Cools well but is very loud. Definitely too loud for bedroom use . Would not buy another one

I have two of these units one 12,000 BTU and the other 6,000 BTU-- both are awesome. The 12,000 cools off my entire 1,000 sq ft apt when its on high speed. The noise isnt that bad, i can still hear the tv at a reasonable volume. Was easy to install and delivery came quick. So far i have no complaints.

This A/C is freakin awesome. But I must first of all give credit to Overstock.com for having such lightning fast shipping and live customer service personel. There was a little oops with my first order and they took care of the problem inmediately, refunded my money virtually inmediately and got me another AC unit ASAP. This AC cools my entire 2 bedroom apt. in the hot NYC summer. It cools so well that we have to program it to turn off in the middle of the night. Great buy
