As the previous reviewer stated, the most annoying thing about this light is that ring - it doesn't sit level. Until I get a ladder tall enough to reach the light (it's in my 2 story foyer), it's going to drive me nuts. (I didn't notice the ring until after installer left.) Otherwise, it's a great light for the price. Light would probably look a little oversized in a smaller room, like a dining room. Looks perfect in a 2-story foyer - adds drama.
when i finally got the thing together with my husband's help (like an hour later) it was beautiful. it's very well made and looks great in our dining room. it's kind of heavy. don't put the glass shades on before you mount it to the ceiling like the directions suggest, i scratched a couple of the glass shades on the ladder as i tried to hold it in place. now that's it's up and i don't have to touch it ever again. it's great. :)
The appearance of the light (once assembled) is very nice. When I looked at the picture online, I was wondering about that black ring. I could not see how it was attached to the lower light rails. Sure enough it is loose. The black ring is the big downfall of this light. It should have had a means to attach and stabilize the lower light rails. I did some rigging myself (with some spare screws, a drill, and a punch) and made the light what it should have been all along. If you are not "handy", you will not like this light. If you are willing to put a couple hours work into it, the light is a very unique and well built (with a little help). The value is average because the assembly takes too much time - time is money.
