Excellent for the price!
Anonymous  from San Francisco, CA,  Aug 22, 2008

This sofa is pretty much the absolute best you could expect for this fantastic price. You do have to put it together and it wasn't difficult to do though some of the instructions were a little confusing. However, the finished product is great. Super comfortable, looks nice, and easily converts to a bed for guests (a comfy one at that).

Great Value!
from Key West, FL,  Aug 16, 2010

I was a little nervous about buying a futon in general...and even more so about buying it online. I decided at this price, I didn't have a ton to lose, so I went for it. I'm so glad I did! My husband happened to be deployed when it arrived, so I ended up having to assemble it myself. It was VERY easy, and it ended up looking very similar to the one in the photo. It's comfortable both in the sitting and sleeping positions. I will address a couple of concerns I've seen in other reviews: * Beads popping out - I didn't have this problem. I'm not sure if they've improved the stitching or if maybe I was just a little more careful with it. * Space between back and seat cushions in "sleeping" position - I don't have this problem either but I think I figured out why some people do. There are 2 sets of holes on the hinges where the back deck and the seat deck are attached. You MUST attach the back deck to the BOTTOM set of holes on the back side of the hinge, and you must attach the seat deck to the set of holes furthest BACK on the bottom side of the hinge. This sets the decks very flush with each other in the sleeping position. * Some people have said the instructions are backwards. Just remember...Left = left side when looking at the futon, not sitting on it. I would definitely recommend this futon. It's comfortable and stylish. Enjoy!

Great Futon
 from Virginia,  May 28, 2009

I am not the best at reviews so, This review will be quick and simple... The way your futon arrives is really all up to the people who store/deliver it to you. For me?: One of the silicon pouches in the armrests ripped and left little silicon pellets everywhere. (This has nothing to do with the review). The futon itself? Fantastic. Material is soft and comfortable. I find myself falling sleeping on it once in awhile instead of going to bed. The futon has 2 "couch" settings. A more upright backrest setting and a more relaxed "slouch-like" backrest setting is the best way I can describe it. A great option. It's really easy to switch between bed mode and couch mode. (No crazy rub ix cube solving/heavy lifting involved) When deployed as a bed, the mattress is quite comfortable (I'd be surprised if you could feel the metal support bars) In summary, the futon is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who see's it online. It's as comfortable as it looks. The "Ease of Assembly" requires some sort of know-how. The manual is a template based on other models. There are some discrepancies with how the futon is actually assembled compared to how they say it is assembled. However, the manual is about 5-6 steps and isn't all that hard to figure out. Value is 4 stars because... well it is on the expensive side. If Overstock offers a good deal (to you), I would jump on it. You can't go wrong. I hope someone finds this useful. :)

Better Than Expected
from Auburn, ME,  Mar 30, 2009

I was a bit apprehensive purchasing a sofa I had never sat on, especially after reading the review that said the springs were too noticeable making the couch uncomfortable. I could not disagree with that reviewer more. The higher back combined with the superb spring support make this feel AMAZING on my achy back, whether I'm sitting or laying.I wish I had this when I was pregnant. This was also the easiest piece I have ever assembled. I did it myself in about an hour with a very clingy 5 month old attached to me. The only thing is that the color looks a liitle less gray and more sage than in the photo, but it's still a lovely color with nice, soft fabric.

Perfect for our bonus room
from North Carolina,  Feb 18, 2011

We put this together in about an hour. My husband and son worked on it. It looks great and it is plush, though the mattress is somewhat firm and may seem uncomfortable to some. I expect after use it will soften up a bit. It unfolds and folds easily. The color is more brown than taupe which still works for us. I think it seems like a good product. Happy with the purchase.

Good price, nice futon couch
 from MA,  Feb 13, 2011

I like this item because it doesn't look and feel like a traditional futon. It really does need two people for setup (only one person was available and it took much longer and was more difficult, but it does recommend two people, so this is our problem not the product). Personally I do find opening/closing it more difficult than a sleep sofa we had years ago. Although it wouldn't be a problem for the average person, spinal issues do impact opening/closing it for me (the mechanism works great, it is the weight and need for some leverage that I have a problem with). Again, not detracting from the item, just making note of this for others who may have physical difficulty. Perhaps with time it will "loosen" up a bit. Overall it is nice, and has been comfortable to sit and sleep on - the fabric is nice and soft, but due to having a number of cats, it will have to be covered most of the time to protect it from scratching and kneading (as would any chair or couch).

Bought for cabin
from Minneapolis, MN,  Oct 10, 2010

We bought this to replace an old sleeper sofa in our cabin "up north" in Michigan. We needed something sturdy that we and our renters can pull out for extra sleeping space. The color is a bit more true sage green than it appears online. Not sure how well the sueded fabric will hold up but so far, it seems fine. Firm and good sized sofa bed, what we expected for the price.

Very Impressed
from Seattle, WA,  Sep 15, 2010

This is a beautiful couch and fully functional bed. Bought as an alternative to having a full-size bed in guest room that also doubles as an office. Added class and comfort as well as a much needed extra bed for our many guests who have nothing but good things to say about it. Only complaint was in shipping- did not make it all the way to our house as it was over the weight limit for UPS. Had to go pick up in our Jeep which made for an exciting drive and some heavy lifting. Also, a little time consuming to put together but well worth it.

great place for husband!
from Pittsburgh, PA,  May 20, 2010

I loved this futon so much, that I bought a second one! One is on my sun-porch, the other in the den. Great functional piece! The seating area is deep and comfortable! I prefer color of the red one to the gray sage green.

Good couch for the money
from Sonoma, CA,  Mar 6, 2010

I bought this couch in September 2008. Using it as a bed a few times and all of my guests love it. very comfortable. A little bit confusing to put the parts together at the beginning but after using it more than a year, it's still very sturdy and performance very well.

Decent sofa, Dont sleep on it
from Kalamazoo, MI,  Jun 25, 2009

The silicon beads popping out, I had a ton of them on my carpet. Assembly is easy. However, did not look exactly (good 90% like the image) like the pictures on the website. The sofa is not perfectly algned with the front board.Biggest upside is the three inclined positions possible on the sofa. Microfiber really has no stain, no matter how badly you use it. You never feel the Bars underneath even as a bed.Workmanship could be better, better alignment of couch cushion with the steel bar chassis. The chassis doesn't align well with the back boards. The worst part is the Bed format is not exactly horizontal. You invariably end up falling into the valley. I got a back problem sleeping in it. Good thing I recovered and wont recommend any one using it as a bed.Its a very good couch. Best value for the money. I have researched everywhere for a couch, its the best value for the money you spend. Couch - good, Bed- never.

It is OK
from Garden Grove, Ca,  Jan 1, 2009

I bought this futon after purchasing a similar one about a year ago called Kent Melody...this one does not even compare. The problem is the comfort. I like the way it looks, overall...but the springs are VERY noticable when using as a couch. I happen to be using it more as a couch than a guest bed, so it is very disappointing that the couch option is not as comfortable as I would have liked. Also, delivery was a huge problem as well - it was lost and Overstock would not replace until it was "lost" in the UPS system for 2 weeks.

Microfiber, Madras Gray Sage Green Futon
from South Portland, ME,  Dec 25, 2008

It actually arrived a day before scheduled, a pleasent surprise. Although at first the color did not seem right, but we now like it. Was easy to assemble, it sure is a lot easier with a second person, but can be done alone. Comfortable to sit on, we like the back being a little higher than our other sofa. Provides more support for neck/shoulders and head. Sleeps good as long as you do not get caught in the valley.

Not bad for under $500.00
from Oley, PA,  Dec 9, 2008

Had a few issues in the beginning with minor parts being damaged. These items were taken care of promptly. Overall sofa is comfortable as a bed and as a sofa. Has nice modern appearance. Assembly was average. Be sure to use common sense as your guide in conjunction with reading the directions.

Good Buy
 from NYC,  Nov 12, 2008

It's great for the price. VERY comfortable as a sofa and a bed. I was even able to put it together all by myself though it would have been easier with another person. Love the way it looks in my licing room!

great buy
from denver. co,  Nov 6, 2008

the sofa looks great and is very comfortable, the only thing that bugs me is the arms that velcro, there is a gap between the couch and the bottom of the arm, but nothing a couple of pillows wouldn't hide, overall i am happy and i am picky

Good enough
from New York, NY,  Oct 8, 2008

I had some trouble with the assembly: the diagrams illustrating how to connect the hinges to the right and left arms make it seem as though the hinges are mislabled--right as left and left as right. In the diagrams, the hinges open toward the rear, but in reality, they should open to the front. So, just don't pay attention to that set of pictures: I had assembled the whole thing before discovering that I had indeed put the hinges on the wrong sides, but was able to switch them while they were still connected to the metal platform without too much trouble. Then, the trouble was that a part of the hinge was bent, preventing the back and seat from laying flat in the "bed" position. I think I would have started having a fit if someone handy hadn't been helping me out and noticed this problem. (It's not possible to put this together alone, by the way.) Aside from the fact that you can sense a gap between the back and the seat cushions when the futon is in the "bed" position, it's super comfortable, and I'm very happy with it. It's also easy to switch from "bed" to "couch" positions.

Amazing
 Sep 10, 2008

My order arrived 3 days after placing. In one box, not two as described in ad. The instructions for assembly were written as if all pieces were apart. This was not the case, making assembly much easier. However, the hinge/sofa arms were mismarked causing confusion and delay. American ingenuity won out. The color was as expected, only wish it had been a touch more green. The upholstery is extremely wrinkled and hopefully time will correct that. The sofa when used for sitting is more in a recling position than a normal sofa would be, but as it is being used strickly for guest sleeping it will suffice. As a bed it is amazingly comfortable. I had no problem with the installation of the hardware and no screws were stripped as I had been warned to be careful with same. For the dollar value, this cannot be beat.
