This is a great mandolin. The day it was delivered we made scallop potatoes. They were so quick and easy to make. Before, it would take forever to slice the potatoes by hand, but now, its so easy and fast. I have already recommended this to my friends. This is the one to buy, it is solid and very well built. It even comes with its own carrying case, easy to store in the pantry dust free! You won't be disappointed!!!!

I like to comment on some of the comments here. Yes, this is indeed a great piece of kitchen tool. You do have to "learn" how to use it to get the full potential but its like that for other tools too. The comments on the plastic holder scarring/scratching up, well its on purpose. Would you rather have a metal holder which would damage and chip the blade instead of the holder. The blade is the bread and butter of this unit and holder is designed to be softer in material than the blade so it wont damage it. It would be like using a knife on a stainless steel table dulling it vs cutting on a bamboo board. This mandoline is priced way below the competitors and works the same if not better.

this is a wonderful product I read the previous reviews before I purchased it and I am glad I did I was going to purchase a cheaper product ,this is sharp,I like the case its easy to use and safe as long as you use the part that holds the fruit or veggies it is well worth the money,I look forward to many years of slicing

This is the first thing I have ever ordered from Overstock that I was really dissapointed with. First of all, the shipping was awful. I ordered this item Nov. 18 and it was finally delivered Nov. 30. It was not packed for shipping at all -- arrived in the original box (no shipping box) and the plastic storage case was cracked and one of the latches was broken off. The unit itself seemed to be okay -- it was metal and fairly heavy. The pusher (as I had noticed in other reviews) was the main complaint. The cheap plastic prongs are so far apart you have to have a very large piece of food to even use it. Slices are not uniform in size, and a very large hunk of food is left that you can't slice at all. I feel I was being very generous to rate this two stars. I am hoping if I can figure out something else to use to push the food I might eventually be able to make use of it.

the Mui mandoline works wonders on so many foods, without the masticating effect of food processors. If you want a "clean" slice or julienne or waffle, instead of step 1 in juicing, this is the tool. I use it for nearly all the foods I ferment (that being dozens!)

Initially, impressed, then distressed when I couldn't get my mandoline to slice into fries my favorite sweet potatoes...kinda chewed up my finger guard trying to push them through...actually considering sending it back...I NEED sweet potato fries.!!!!

I love the product. The safety guard is a little hold to use at first, but after a few uses, it's fine. The only bad thing about the order was Overstock shipped in it's original box. So this surprise Christmas gift was no surprise. I understand saving the planet and costs by uses the original box, but a little packing paper around it would have been nice as it's left on my front porch.

With a little bit of Practice, I was able to command the production of 1/16 inch sliced potatoes for pan fried potatoes. This was the main reason for the purchase. With any type of manual tool, practice makes the product better. To clean I just ran it under hot water. Great product !

Worked well on first use. Easy to assemble and adjust.

Be very cautious not to slice your fingers. Use the enclosed plastic handler to move the item on the slicer. After a while, the blade (1) will need to be changed. No mention as to where a blade might be purchased. Potatoes need a firm push.

Great mandoline! In fact, it's so sharp you had better be careful. Took a few minites to slice multiple vegetables for a recipe that use to take a 1/2 hour

Got this for my daughter for Christmas and she loves it. It is exactly as described. She and her husband do a lot of cookiing and the professional size was exactly what they needed. It is a great piece of kitchen equipment.

This is an extremely useful tool in the kitchen. I have used it to julienne and create uniform lengthwise slices of zucchini - we are on a low carb diet and zucchini is a great replacement for pasta. I recommend getting the cutting glove along with the mandoline as you could seriously lose the tip of your finger!!

Unit came in with several nicks in the cutting blade. This needs to be replaced. The emails in the manual go to non-existing address. Web site is useless NO info on warranty. Sent email to web master several weeks no reply. Typical shit support of a CHINA product. Thought this was made in France...Well Overstock can you step up to the plate and fix this situation? Might want to consider something else.

The engineering, manufacturing quality, and durability are excellent, especially compared with the price.

Pretty easy to understand even though the instructions are hard to follow. I like the way all the "attachments" are built in and can be configured by turning a dial. I started by trying to slice a potato. I felt so little resistance that I thought it didn't work. I was surprised to see the sliced potato. This mandoline is very sharp.

The first thing I tried to cut was julienne sweet potatoes. Like another writer, the potatoes had to be pulled apart because the cut did not go all the way through. I wound up with uneven pieces that took a great effort to produce. I do better using knives. The design of the unit is excellent, and it does work on other items. Unfortunately, my main reason for buying it was for juliennes! I gave it 3 stars for the remainder of the unit, which is very well made. Having a case is a big plus, also. I will use it for other cuts and switch from julienne to straight slices.
