I purchased these valances(I bought three)to hang in a guest bedroom. The casing is just large enough to fit on my existing wide-pocket rods. The Celtic knot design as a border is very beautiful and the color(taupe) is a lovely neutral shade. They look great!!!Read More
While these were beautiful valances, they were not at all what I thought based on the pictures on the website. In the picture, they look more like a matte, non-glossy fabric, and the color appears more of a ginger/natural gold, and cream. When I unpacked them and opened one, they are a very shimmery pewter sort of color on the top, and a muted dull bronze/gold on the bottom. Not even close to what I expected, sadly, so returning them.Read More
I was looking for a valance to use in my newly-remodeled bathroom and couldn't find one with the colors that I wanted until I saw this...which is exactly what I wanted. It was even more beautiful when I received it than the photo. Although it doesn't look like it in the catalog, it is sheer and lets the sun shine in. It is beautiful!Read More
Bought them for basement windows..they are absolutely perfect. I measured incorrectly the first time and had to get another; it came in 2 days.Read More
This valance is longer than it appears in the picture. I have it in my kitchen over the window, so it is exposed to cooking steam and grease and it still looks and feels brand new. The celtic style knotwork on the bottom is a very cool design. You can get cheaper valances elsewhere, but this one is a great golden and brown neutral that goes so well with our maple cabinets and brown speckled granite.Read More

Tips on Decorating with Window Valances
For hundreds of years, window valances have been a dignified and classic way to bring a strong sense of style into an entire room. Window valances can quickly set the mood in a room and turn the window space into a framed work of art. When it comes to curtains and window treatments, you can almost do no wrong. Still, using window drapes to convey a style can be especially striking. Whether you are going for chic and modern window treatments or dignified and traditional window valances, here are a few window treatment ideas to help you on your road to window valance success.
Why You Need a Window Valance
Although sporting a traditional window valance is often attributed to stuffy old mansions, this timeless style is being reclaimed by in-the-know hipsters who are turning the dignity of the window valance into a chic, contemporary look for every apartment, flat or home. You don't have to own an estate to hang curtains and window treatments. An increasing number of young, urban professionals are making apartments feel like home with window drapes to match their modern sense of style. No matter what your living arrangements, window valances can add a finishing touch to make your residence a home. There are a million reasons why you need a window valance, but here are just a few to help give the extra push you need to join the window valance revolution.
Best Valances for Living Room Windows
Dress up the curtains in your living room windows when you buy elegant valances for your home. Whether you want to cover up unsightly hardware above your windows or just add a special touch to your drapes, window valances are a great way to make your living room more polished. With many valance styles available, however, you may be wondering which will work well in your home. This guide provides you with information about the best valances for living room windows.
How to Hang a Valance and Curtains
Hanging a valance and curtains over your window will add dimension, texture and style to any room. Window curtains with a valance give your window treatments a finished, designer look. If you want to block out light, a valance and full-length blackout panel curtain is your best choice. If you are more interested in decoration and only need to block minimal light, then a valance over sheer curtains is a good choice. It's important to measure the window and decide what type of curtains you want before you buy the curtain hardware. A cafe rod will be sufficient to support a sheer curtain, but you will need a stronger curtain rod to support heavier fabrics such as blackout panels. Also, the larger the window, the sturdier the curtain rod will need to be.
