The EC45S Tower Evaporative Cooler from Luma Comfort allows refreshing cool air. This slim, attractive appliance is designed for indoor spaces and works as an air cooler, tower fan and humidifier in one.

Cooler than just a fan, this unit is also quiet enough to use in a bedroom. It features a natural wind mode that varies the fan speed to simulate natural breezes. The remote control allows turning the unit on and off or changing speeds without getting up. This unit is light weight and includes casters to easily move it from room to room. This evaporative cooler oscillates 90 degrees to send its cooling breeze to a wider area of the room, and the 45-watt motor doesn't use up much energy while the unit is operating. Glowing indicators at the top of the unit let you see at a glance which settings are activated, and the digital control panel is simple to use.

  • Luma EC45S Review - Great Product!

This is a great unit, definitely a step up from my last lasko tower fan. We use a tower fan/cooler in our bedroom during the hot summer nights, as they help both of us sleep a lot better. This unit is quiet enough on the low and med setting to not disturb our sleep. It's also powerful enough on high to cool off the whole room without any issue. In the higher altitude, the added humidifier/evaporative cooler function works really well. It gets very dry during the summer, so the added moisture also helps us both sleep better in addition to cooling the place down. The timer is nice and the oscillation works well. I'm also a big fan of the natural mode, which shifts the speed up and down randomly - I think it's supposed to simulate a tropical breeze. It's very easy to use right out of the box, and also includes a remote so we can change speeds or turn it off without having to get up. Over all, we're very happy and would certainly recommend this to anyone else.

  • Lovin' Them!

I show dogs, and at night they are crated in a 7x18 dog room. I live in Tucson, AZ, a very dry climate, and though I run ceiling and pedestal fans all summer, they don't really cool that much. I purchased two of these, and they not only cool beautifully, but put moisture into the air. Good for dog coats in a dry climate! And if these are effective with thick-coated dogs, think about for thin-skinned humans. 8-)

  • Great cooling for the price

I didn't purchase this product thinking it would cool me like an air conditioner, but I was hoping it would be better than a fan and much less expensive to run than an AC. It exceeded my expectations and worked really well for me this past summer. I always used this with the window open so that I'd get fresh air in and it really did the trick. It was also light enough for me to move around my home. Great product!

  • This Luma Tower Cooler is Everything We Expected

The Good: - First off, this unit looks great, and is not at all an eyesore - Easy to move around when we need to - Water tank easy to fill - Quiet - It comes with a remote control and two ice packs The Bad: - While it's a higher degree of plastic, it's still made of plastic. Still nice for under $150 though - Remote is small, easy to lose - Ice packs could be bigger Overall: - Great unit, works perfectly and does exactly what we expected it to. Recommended.

It doesn't cool as much as they say, but it has helped me keep the a/c off

  • cools a room

perfect for a smaller room. Does the job. Does not freeze the room but it gets cool enough to sleep in during hot summer nights. It is not too loud but you can hear it

  • After one day, so far so good

It is NOT an air conditioning, so don't expect it to work like an air conditioning. It looks good, everything works. My son's room is facing the west side and has all his electronic running. His room is always hot and running three fans. He always had a tower fan at him. We got this yesterday, I just found him on his bed instead of his normal chair and covered with a blanket. Does this work? You bet! The room is much cooler and you can feel the difference. Normally his room is like 81 degrees with my AC set to 76 outside. His room now measure about 77, that makes a big difference. Especially when it is blowing directly at him. I live in South Florida so my AC is pretty much on year round, so it is not high humidity and this just cools his room off. He is very happy and so am I.

  • Alternate A/C or humidifier

Great for small spaces/apartment to keep cool and dry. Recommend using distilled water in tank and placing on sold surface; not carpet; I used an old cutting board.

  • I really liked this fan

It makes a difference in my electric bill, now I don't have to keep the AC on all night long with this fan and the coolers I sleep comfortable. Was worth it.

Answer This Question

Hello aznancy, you are correct this will cover up to 100 square feet. I will have that corrected. Have a great day! overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 8, 2014
Thank you for your reply. As stated previously, I purchased this based on the information posted that it would cover 150 sq ft. I did open the box and review the owners manual-which prompted my question. Based on your response, this will not work for my area. Due to this inaccurate description, may I return this unused item? aznancy on Jul 10, 2014

Does this unit need a window for any kind of venting? Or is this something I can stick in a room with no window, and expect the same level of cooling? jb8888 on May 15, 2014

My need is to slightly cool my wine room to around 55-58 degrees F. Currently it stays around 63-65 degrees. Will this product achieve my needs? Also, are the ice packs totally you actually add ice or are they more like a cooler pack? Finally, how often would I need to change the ice pack in the environment mentioned above? Thanks hoyt2 on Feb 17, 2013

Answer This Question

Thank you for your question. The exact cooling power of this unit will depend on the relative humidity level in the room. Evaporative coolers are designed for areas that are very dry and cool through the power of evaporation. Additionally, evaporative coolers typically work better in areas with ventilation and an open window/door, so this may not work well in an enclosed wine room. The ice packs are enclosed and do not require the addition of ice. They do need to be stored in the freezer to become cold, and should last for 3-4 hours in those temperatures before needing to be changed. overstockcustomercare1 on Feb 20, 2013

Is it the ice pack that makes the air cool? and how long does it stay cool before you have to replace the ice pack? and is there any condensation? could you place it on a hard wood floor surface?  on Sep 14, 2012

Answer This Question

The ice packs enhance the cooling effect, however, if you are in a dry environment, simply using water will also provide a cooling effect. Ultimately, the length of time that this item remains cool will depend on how warm your climate is. The unit does come with two ice packs, however, so you can always have one frozen and ready to go. Since this unit does add moisture to the air, there is a chance it may build on rare occasion, particularly within the water tank. The unit can be placed on a hard surface, but remember that the unit does add moisture to the air and increases the humidity level. Keep that in mind when placing the item on a wood floor or in a room with items that can be affected by high humidity levels. overstockcustomercare1 on Sep 18, 2012

Where does the ice pack go?? tribre on Sep 5, 2012
