Ludlow Queen Platform Bed

I bought the white with wenge (very dark brown) queen size. My rating is only based on my expectation and view of the bed in plastic. I will update once my bed is completely together, but after 1 1/2 days - it still is not. I cannot tighten the side rails, foot rail and headboard together. Because the screws sit perpendicular to the hole opening, and the company did not provide a small wrench, it is really hard to get to and tighten. You cannot use a crescent wrench nor socket or pocket wrenches. If anyone has any tips please let me know, I bought a set of wrenches and none of them fit quite right (even bought metric ones since this bed is Italian). Further, the support legs of the bed rails came in a box with 7 screws and washers - no list of parts and no instructions. I called Modloft and even they were confused and apologized. So...while this bed really looks pretty - I cannot comment on it entirely, because of my assembly issues. Delivery - I strongly recommend getting white glove minimum if you have to bring it up any stairs. The headboard is so heavy, I cannot lift up even one side of it more than a few inches. Size - I didn't know if I would want a boxspring with a mattress - you don't really need one, but I bought one anyway - low profile 5" thick. I won't know yet if it sticks up over the side rails because I don't have the rails installed yet. I can see already that the top of the mattress would sit really low if you don't have a low profile box spring - but you also wouldn't want it stick up over the side rails. Learnings: If I had to do it again, I would have sprung for assembly also (if that was even an option). I also would have ordered the king size. I ordered queen thinking the bed would be too massive for my room, but it isn't. Still to learn/verify: 1) White leather worries: I am a little worried about the white leather getting stained/funky with just normal use. I'm scared to take off the plastic! 2) Will my toenails survive?: There is a wood trim around the entire thing, and I have a feeling I'm going to lose some toenails hitting it as I get into bed. 3) What height and width and type nightstands can I get that will look good? I want drawers...but cannot picture different nightstands with it yet. Maybe when I get the mattress on it. 4) Will my low profile boxspring stick up over the side rails? I never could find out how high it was from the mattress rails to the top of the side rails to know if I can use a boxspring...so I went ahead and got one anyway. If I can't use it - that was $270+ down the drain and then, what am I going to do with an extra queen boxspring? Again, the white leather and wood look beautiful - I can't wait to see it assembled properly! :-/
