This authentic Hummel figurine titled'Little Thrifty' was first modeled in 1939 by master sculptor Arthur Moeller and restyled in 1963 by Rudolf Wittman. The piece is actually a bank made with a metal lock and key on the bottom. The object into which'Little Thrifty' is putting her coin is a medieval form of a Poor Box, something still found in many older European churches. This piece was temporarily withdrawn in September 2003.
This handcrafted piece comes direct from the world's only authorized producer of Hummel designs. Every piece is back-stamped by Goebel and carries the M.I. Hummel signature.
M.I. Hummel products are the result of a successful partnership between W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik (German for porcelain factory) and the talented German artist, Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Her paintings of youthful innocence have been transformed by the master artists of the Goebel factory into three-dimensional works of art.
Every new Hummel figurine is created using a painstaking process involving over 700 hand operations with many quality checkpoints. Don't let this one pass you by!

great piece I like that Hummels are so well crafted and then there retired after so long and sometimes a different scruptor brings out the same piece with just a slight differance.
