Questions & Answers
Hello Maria P., yes, it can be used under vinyl plank flooring. Thank you for shopping with us!
Hi i need to cover an area of 50 square meters, how many rolls do i need?no idea how to convert the measurements! Also i have a basement property and about to fit a laminate floor is this the best underlay ? Thanks
50 square meters = 538.2 square feet. You will need 3 rolls of SP4-200 to cover the area of 50 square meters. SP4-200 is the best LessCare underlayment and has Impact Insulation Class rate 72 IIC and Sound Transmission Class Rate 66 STC.
what is the thickness of this product?
The thickness of this underlayment is 3.2 millimeters.
Your responce on the difference between SP1, 2, 3 & 4 was great. Thanks. I get the STC designation now. What is the Impact Insulation Class (IIC) designation and what do those numbers mean?
An Impact Insulation (IIC) rating is a measure of a reduction in impact sound transferring from a floor surface to the room underneath. The higher the number, the less the sound is transferred. (e.g. foot traffic, dropping items on the floor, etc.) This item has an IIC rating of 72 IIC which is a high rating.
What is the difference between the SP1, SP-2, SP 3 and SP-4 products sold by Less Care? The details appear to be the same for all of them, yet the prices are significantly different.
SP1 Is not rated SP2 has 60 Impact Insulation Class (IIC) and 53 Sound transmission class (STC) SP3 has 65 IIC and 58 STC SP4 has 72 IIC and 66 STC STC is airbornevibration and the rating is roughly how many decibles get through. Very loud shouting is roughly 85 decibles. The average wall is about 50STC so this woudl stack onto that and be blocking 116 with SP4.
