We love this sofa bed as an alternative guest bed. It is a very comfy sofa and folds into a full bed which is also comfy to sleep on. It does have a bit of a 90s look to the cushions but we added nice custom pillows to change the look. Assembly isn't too bad but even my husband who is an engineer had to really think about how best to attach the hinges.
Box arrived damaged. Upon opening it looked like it had been reboxed as inside box with screws and tools was opened and missing two bolts. It took about 2 hours to assemble myself probably would be less with 2 people. All in all after assembly finished, sitting on futon as a couch is comfortable and guests said made a comfortable bed. As an extra seating area and guest bed it was worth the price.
This futon looks great and is fine as a sofa BUT as a bed it sinks in the center and is nearly impossible for 2 people to sleep on, as they roll to the center!! We are very disappointed.
Good stuff, very soft and comfortable, easy to put together and so easy to open to bed and close to coach that my 80 year old Mom that ways maybe 110 lbs. can do it with no trouble.
The sofa arrived via UPS & was packaged very well so there wasnt any damage. The instructions were easy to follow. I had it assembled in less than 30 minutes once it was out of the box. This couch is very cozy & comfortable. Much more comfortable than I expected for the price.
This bed couch is amazing--looks very nice and is very comfortable. It was relatively easy to put together, and the free shipping, given its size, was amazing. Very classy
This couch/bed is really very comfortable and wasn't as difficult to put together as some other reviewers described. I assembled it with a little help in easily under an hour and it works wonderfully. It is very supportive although it does tend to dip a little in the center when it is laid flat out into a bed. I just slept on it last night as a bed and slept wonderfully. The fabric is very comfortable. I think this is a great purchase and you can't beat the price!
I have read the reviews about how hard it was to put together and I have to disagree. The instructions were a little vague in some parts but most is common sense . The left and right hinges were mixed up but once we changed those we had no problem putting it together. I would recommend having two people put this together (saves so much time). The futon was vacuum packed so as soon as we cut the strings it expanded. There were two small puncture holes in the left arm rest but they are in the back. Over all I am quite happy with the look. It works out perfect in the apartment. When turn the sofa into the bed it does stick slightly. The bed was very comfortable, you could not feel the bars or the frame at all.
This sofa bed has its pros and cons, but we?re quite pleased with it overall. Here is our experience: We were really concerned about how incredibly beat-up the box was when it arrived ? holes all over the box and one of the pillows partly hanging out of it. Damage assessment: A small chip in the frame (luckily in a hidden area), a small quarter-inch slice in the front of one arm rest (luckily hardly noticeable), 2 holes in the pillow ?stuffers? which were also dirty from hanging out of the box (luckily the pillow cases were fine, so you?ll never see the damage), and a couple of bent metal hinges (we were able to pound them flat with a hammer and they worked fine after that). I guess with a humongous, super heavy box like this, it?s bound to get very banged up in transit, but the packaging could have been sturdier. It does take some time to assemble the sofa, but the instructions were pretty clear and if you do a careful job, the sofa looks quite good and the folding mechanism works just fine. The cushions are indeed constructed of large coil spring ?packs? (pretty robust) that insert into the microsuede cushion covers, which have padding stitched into them, so the padding lays over the coil spring packs. When we sit/lay on the sofa, we definitely can not feel the springs through the padding, and it?s pretty darn comfortable! Feels similar to a bed mattress with a soft topper on it. Only complaint is that the spring ?packs? and padding don?t quite fill out the cushion cover at the corners, so it can look a little ?droopy? in those areas, but not too bad. When you fold the sofa out into a bed, the ?gap? between the two cushions isn?t very large at all, and isn?t bothersome to us. The actual color of the microsuede seems lighter than it appears in the photo ? it?s more of a ?chai? color (literally, think tea with lots of milk!) - and we do love the color. It does have a ?new couch? smell that we don?t find at all offensive, and I?m sure it will wear off very quickly anyway. The sofa is more comfortable than the non-coil (cushion only) sofa bed I used to have, and overall, we?re quite happy with our purchase.
This futon sofa bed was confusing to put together, but for the price, I think it was a good value. The microfiber makes it cozy and soft. The cushions inflated as soon as we took the belts off of them. However, more and clearer instructions would have been helpful!
The convertible sofa is not high end, but is worth the price and will serve its purpose as a guest bed/sofa in my front room. I've sat on it and laid on it and it makes an okay sofa and an even better bed as far as comfort goes. There is a slight crack in the middle when made into the bed, but if the bed is covered with a heavy blanket or foam topper prior to sleeping on it I don't feel it would be very noticeable. I read reviews about it being difficult to assemble, but I had no trouble with it. The instructions were not bound in the correct order (i.e. pg 1, 2, 5, 6, 3, 4), but they were numbered so I was able to figure it out. When I unpacked the mattress cover it had a strange odor to it that went away after approx 10 days.
We bought this couch for our home office, thinking we could use it for overnight guests. It looked great in the picture and the price was right. I missed the part that said "assembly required", my fault. This couch was a pain in the A** to put together. Once put together it looked terrible, the cover does not fit correctly, it is very low to the ground and it looks cheap. The "mattress" is basically a box spring that fits into a cover with a thin padding. The padding on the cover is so thin that you can easily feel the coiled springs when you lay down. I would have returned it, but the return shipping would have been more than I paid for the couch. But, it was cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for.
First of all, Overstock has impeccable delivery service, three days and I come home to this enormous box on my front porch... hoping the UPS man didn't get a hernia from lifting that thing off his truck. I purchased this futon because it looked like a sofa from the pictures, and once put together, it resembles a sofa... go figure. I have a small ADU/Apt that I'm furnishing for guests and thought this futon would serve dual purposes in a small space (400sqft). The directions are clear, simplistic and has good pictures... until my husband showed up to "help" me, I was making good time. The only direction that wasn't clear was when inserting the "mattress/box-spring, unzip the lining and insert into the padded cover. Once assembled, we laid on it, sat on it and was very surprised at the comfort and stability of the futon... not flimsy. I also purchased a slip cover to protect the micro suede, stain guard would also be a good idea. Once again, I'm very happy with Overstock and the quality of my purchase as well as the delivery time.
I've used this product over a year now and thought to give it all possible benefits of a doubt. Please, save your money and look for something else if you value a good night sleep. If you need something to put in a basement for some occasional guest, then it might be worth it, but don't be surprised if your guest won't speak to you in the morning. Most uncomfortable part is the empty space in the middle. It's not my first futon and some space is understandable or it wont fold into couch. But in this case, we're talking about a black hole that grows icredibly through the night. So don't be surprised to wake up in the middle of the night with back pains caused by sleep on metal parts with no cusioning whatsoever. I had to buy futon matress to be able to get some kind of sleep within first month. Also, it's been just over a year since I purchased it, but it's already loosing its form. Now, you can clearly see which side of the couch I prefer. Bottom line - it's not worth the money you'll be paying for it and you should look for something with more comfort. I wouldn't give it to my friends for free much less recomend paying for it.
This is a great futon. It is comfortable to sleep on, and ok to sit on. I have three small complaints. 1st - as others have mentioned, putting it together is a bit screwy. The left/right labels are as you face towards the front of the futon, not looking forward from behind the futon. Also, the diagrams are wrong, match the colored labels for the hinges & sides. Once you get the hinges right, it is pretty quick & easy to put together. 2nd - there is a gap, a few inches wide, between the arm and the sitting area. Not a big deal, but I wish it was flush. 3rd - when in sofa position, the back is slanted pretty far back. Combined with a wide sitting area and relatively high seat, this makes it a bit awkward for sitting, especially for those shorter than 6 feet tall. But don't let that dissuade you if you're looking for a futon that must be comfortable to sleep on, and ok to sit on. We'd have bought it again, it is really a nice piece of furniture.
The sofa arrived amazingly quickly but I must warn you--the box is HEAVY! It says 150 pounds and I believe it. Everything that was supposed to be in the package was there and in perfect shape. I would have given it 5 stars except for the "ease of assembly". I am fairly used to putting things together and this one was truly a pain to assemble! The directions are not clear, the pictures are less than helpful and we actually put it together backwards the first time and had to disassemble it, then reassemble it. But now that it's done, I love it! It's comfortable, looks good and it's extremely easy to convert into a bed. I highly recommend it!
This futon arrived quickly, in good condition. It was not too hard to put together, except that the drawing of the hinges is confusing. We first put the hinges on the wrong sides (we believed the drawing and not the hinge labels!) You should believe the hinge labels and ignore the drawing. The bed is much more comfortable than a pull out sofa bed, and the sofa looks better than a single-piece futon mattress that slides down your frame. A good deal for the price.
Website picture was good but product was actually nicer than shown. The only complaint was the assembly instructions. English wasn't the first language for the assembly making it extremely difficult to figure out, particularly the armature installation. It definitely takes 2 to put this together.
