As a professional chef, I am used to cutting boards large enough to do serious prep work. This one is as big as anything I use at work, but more functional and attractive. It's heavy, doesn't incur cuts from knives, and my knife edges haven't dulled from it's surface. Does require mineral oil treatment (save yourself some $ and buy some food grade mineral oil at your supermarket or pharmacy instead of high priced "cutting board" oil, which is the same thing). The feet raise the cutting surface of the already thick board a little higher than an average height person might find optimally comfortable (this might not be the best choice for the vertically challenged), but with their non-skid pads, the cutting board stays put... no need to place a damp towel underneath t he board in place. With feet you only get one side to cut on. For home use this is great and I highly recommend it. I purchased an equally large end grain cutting board by Totally Bamboo for work and love it, too.
