Great dehumidifier, BUT...

rfranzosa from Cinciinnati, OH, Oct 1, 2009

The LG dehumidifier is working well, it is quiet and really does dry out the basement. My only issue with it is that the connection for the hose is either poorly designed, or I have defective parts. You are supposed to push a plastic tube throught a hole in the back of the box. This tube fits over a small L-shaped pipe. At the back end of the pipe there is a flat, rectangular piece of plastic that, it appears, is supposed to 'wedge' the pipe in place. It doesn't. The slightest movement of the dehumidifier dislodges the pipe.We had already decided that we were going to operate the dehumidifier by emptying the bucket, so it doesn't much matter in our situation. but I am really disappointed with the quality of that hose connection.

LG 65-pint Capacity Dehumidifier (Refurb)

gwhite1147 from Chicago Area, Sep 1, 2009

This unit has manual and several automatic operational modes. It is as quiet as the principles of physics allow for this degree of efficiency. Water collection by included pail or direct draining are possible. Shipping was almost instant as the unit arrived days earlier than expected. Overall savings compared to identical and similar in-store models was 35-45%.

good, except...

tommytomtimmytom from grand rapids, MI, Jul 16, 2009

it works great, the fan is nice and loud, but it's a good loud; like... it's a moving air sound, not a grinding whining sound. although, fresh out of the box the fan sounded like it was hitting something plastic, so after taking the back off of it i found that whoever refurbished it left a wire going to the compressor in the way of the fan blade. it was a VERY easy fix, and it works and sounds great now. it is plastic fan blade though, i wish people would just make things out of metal..the condensor is also very very quiet, i can hear it kick in, but it's not excessively loud like many other ones.it works great, i love it!

Delighted!

Boggan from Pittsburgh, PA, Jul 16, 2009

I would not hesitate to purchase this unit again. This dehumidifier was a refurbished unit for considerably less than what local retailers were charging. It brought our wet basement from having a small amount of standing water in the back corner to being totally dry, with a 40% humidity in just a couple of days of use. As it operates in an unfinished basement, its sound is not a concern for us, though it does produce a moderate amount of white noise. It turns itself on and off as needed, and it drains automatically, so it basically takes care of itself down there. I wish everything in my life were so simple!
