Great dehumidifier, BUT...
rfranzosa  from Cinciinnati, OH,  Oct 1, 2009
The LG dehumidifier is working well, it is quiet and really does dry out the basement. My only issue with it is that the connection for the hose is either poorly designed, or I have defective parts. You are supposed to push a plastic tube throught a hole in the back of the box. This tube fits over a small L-shaped pipe. At the back end of the pipe there is a flat, rectangular piece of plastic that, it appears, is supposed to 'wedge' the pipe in place. It doesn't. The slightest movement of the dehumidifier dislodges the pipe.We had already decided that we were going to operate the dehumidifier by emptying the bucket, so it doesn't much matter in our situation. but I am really disappointed with the quality of that hose connection.

This unit has manual and several automatic operational modes. It is as quiet as the principles of physics allow for this degree of efficiency. Water collection by included pail or direct draining are possible. Shipping was almost instant as the unit arrived days earlier than expected. Overall savings compared to identical and similar in-store models was 35-45%.

good, except...
tommytomtimmytom  from grand rapids, MI,  Jul 16, 2009
it works great, the fan is nice and loud, but it's a good loud; like... it's a moving air sound, not a grinding whining sound. although, fresh out of the box the fan sounded like it was hitting something plastic, so after taking the back off of it i found that whoever refurbished it left a wire going to the compressor in the way of the fan blade. it was a VERY easy fix, and it works and sounds great now. it is plastic fan blade though, i wish people would just make things out of metal..the condensor is also very very quiet, i can hear it kick in, but it's not excessively loud like many other ones.it works great, i love it!

Delighted!
Boggan  from Pittsburgh, PA,  Jul 16, 2009
I would not hesitate to purchase this unit again. This dehumidifier was a refurbished unit for considerably less than what local retailers were charging. It brought our wet basement from having a small amount of standing water in the back corner to being totally dry, with a 40% humidity in just a couple of days of use. As it operates in an unfinished basement, its sound is not a concern for us, though it does produce a moderate amount of white noise. It turns itself on and off as needed, and it drains automatically, so it basically takes care of itself down there. I wish everything in my life were so simple!

so far so good
csm123  from Chicago, IL,  Jul 8, 2009
We have had the dehumidifier for a couple of weeks. It takes a lot of water out of the air. We've been using the water to water our plants. It came just at the right time because our air conditioner broke down and we had a week of very hot weather. Inside our house we still had hot air, but it was hot and dry, rather than hot and humid. Since it's on the main floor with us most of the time, it can be a bit noisy, but we seem to have gotten used to it.

We purchased this dehumidifier to put in our crawl space because we had been having a problem with condensation. It works great and is a great price compared to others we have seen.

Dehumidifier
sandy1250  from Iowa,  Nov 8, 2008
This is an awesome dehumidifier. The only complaint I have is the noise. It is in our basement so when we are watching tv down there, we turn it off. I had shopped around and the LG on Overstock was the best value and came within a couple of days. In addition, it is easy to empty. The "bucket" has a handle and it's easy to remove because it's in the front. The best part, it does a great job of pulling the humidity from the air. It's surprising how much warmer our basement is since purchasing this dehumidifier. Thanks, Overstock!

LG Dehumidifier
lenben  from Seattle WA,  Oct 30, 2008
A rrefurbished unit that looks new and runs like a charm. Took the moisture out of a 1200 Sq Ft basement overnight and keeps it that way. Runs at low temperature which is great for a basement. Highly recommended.

Works for me.....
philo50  from Boston,  Oct 29, 2008
I have a "man cave" on our lower level which is about half below grade. I spend a lot of time down there watching football and other sports that my wife has no interest in. This works for us. Humidity ran about 75% at all times and was bothering my arthritic knees. I run the machine on low on the 2 hour setting and am amazed at the amount of water that is taken out of the air. I have to empty it on a daily basis as I have no drain, but the humidity now maintains at about 45%. Less pain in the knees and I believe I am breathing better in the drier air. It is not exactly whisper quiet and does throw off quite a bit of heat but not so bad that it bothers me. My durability rating has to do with only having had the unit for a month and I don't know how long everything will go so well. Terrific product at a very good price.

Humidifier
akinn  from Boston,  Oct 24, 2008
I bought this as a refurb and thought the price was a good value. LG usually has great quality products. The key pad froze/broke after a week - not sure if i'll go the refurb route again...jury is still out.

My only complaint is that it is noisy. But, it really sucks up the humidity!! This is a real good value! If you are putting it in a basement, don't worry about the noise, just know it's working and working good! My suggestion - buy it!!

lovelucy143  from Mooresville,NC,  Sep 30, 2008
I LIVE IN A LAKEFRONT HOME WITH A FULL FINISHED BASEMENT. AND ALSO HAD A SUNROOM BUILT ON. AND IT WOULD GET REALLY DAMP IN THE ROOMS! I HAD HEARD OF A Dehumidifer BEFORE. AND I REALLY WANTED TO BUY ONE TO SEE IF IT WOULD REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE AIR. SO I LOOKED ON OVERSTOCK TO SEE WHAT THEY HAD,AND READ THE REVIEWS ON THEM! I ORDERED THIS ONE BECAUSE OF THE SIZE AND THE GREAT REVIEWS.AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE! IT IS VERY EASY TO EMPTY! YOU WOULD BE SHOCKED TO SEE HOW MUCH WATER YOU GET OUT OF THE AIR WITHIN AN HOUR! THANK-YOU OVERSTOCK!

I am very pleased with this product. In response to a review left by someone else, the 65 pints does NOT refer to the amount of water the basin will hold. In fact, the 65 pints represents the amount of water that can be "sucked out" of the air per 24 hour period. Needless to say-- this dehumidifer has served it's purpose well and I am extremely happy with the product.

humidifer
ldp1950  from maine,  Sep 15, 2008
Works extremely well in our basement. Compared shopped at Lowes and it was 2/3 the price. Only problem being that it should be hooked up to a hose and drain because it fills so fast. Everyday the 65 pint container is full. It comes with adapter hose. Does a great job. You want it.

excellent value!
jmcal  from Simsbury, CT,  Jul 31, 2008
I purchased this refurbished dehumidifier after years of putting it off. This machine works great! Assembled in about 2 minutes, and it has done a super job on our musty basement. Only issue is that the instructions say not to use an extension cord, but the unit cord is really not that long. I have been using an extension cord until I can put in a new plug, and the unit is working fine. I would recommend this unit to anyone. It was certainly a value!
