I bought this air conditioner for my upstairs loft room for my kids' room because the windows were sliding windows that weren't too big!! It does the job. It keeps it nice and cool for them to play and sleep up there. The only thing is that you wanna make sure that you have someone to help you because this thing is sooo heavy!! My husband was away when it came so I had to lug the thing upstairs and try to put it in the window by myself ( which I almost lost it out the window!! ) and it was deff. hard to do!!
we got a beautiful deal on this ac. more than 50% off msrp. it does it's job. installation was a small project, but nothing tricky. it's cool that it has energy saving mode. pros: powerful and silent. known trusted brand. auto turn-on timer. cons: everytime it starts, the whole house dims for a second. auto shut-off timer seems to be buggy - it raises temperature by few degrees every hour.
I have a 16 in. wide window on either side of my bed...looked high and low for unit to fit...THANKS! Keeps me & hubby cool at night in our bedroom without having to cool the whole house in our tropical climate!

i bought this air conditioner in may of 08, got it for about 300 shipped.what a deal it fits well in my slider window it cools very well and has a great fan.i have a smaller kitchen and living room and it cools these two rooms from 82 to 74 in 2 to 3 hours.i have been impressed by this especially because these are usually much more expensive for a casement type ac.it also looks great and has a energy saver feature and a timer so it shuts off when you set it.but make sure you use a dedicated circuit or have no big apliances on the circuit.i blew the circuit protector on the end of the cord and had to rewire it,(it was my fault) overall it does more than expected for a very good price.hopefully it lasts for a few years
