  • This is a great bed!!

    This bed is beautiful - it looks wonderful with the wood furniture in our room. It's also very sturdy. I was a bit concerned because our pillowtop mattress weighs a ton, but the frame is very strong. Much better than the freebie frame that came with the mattress/box springs. I agree with other reviewers that the color name "mahogany gold" is a bit misleading - it's a glossy off-black with a slight gold sheen. But definitely not matte. But that doesn't bother me at all - I quite like it. Also my husband put it together by himself and he said it was very easy to do. I highly recommend this bed!

  • Great Bed, especially for the price!

    We purchased this bed after upgrading to a king. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and workmanship. The color is as described on the site. It was easy to put together, despite the fact that the directions were missing from my box. It is a great deal and I would definitely recommend this bed.

  • Good for the price

    We bought this bed for a second/vacation home and therefore didn't want to spend a lot of money. Considering the cost, this bed is worth the purchase. Quality of the materials is so-so (the metal is easily dentable) but for under $300 it serves the purpose and looks nice. It was easy to assemble and goes with everything. If you are looking for something that is very hardy and will last through wear and tear for many years, I wouldn't go with this bed. (but keep in mind that you will be spending lots more money to get something more rugged/better quality).In summary: this bed is definitely worth the price, but if you want something good/strong quality, spend more $$ and go with something else.

  • I love it!

    I was so suprised to see that the box was intact. This was my first big purchase over the internet, so I was a little scared. It came with all the instructions, but it was so easy to put it together, my husband didn't even use them. The quality is amazing, this is not a bed that shifts when you lay down, very sturdy! I am happy with our purchase!

  • Beautiful bed!

    I wanted a bed to mix with antique furniture in a spare bedroom. A metal bed would be perfect but all of the ones I found in the local furniture stores were too elaborate and very expensive. This bed is absolutely perfect. Very pretty, easy to assemble, inexpensive and delivered within days.

The description says matte black, yet others have said it has a shiny finish. Can anyone confirm if it is matte? Also, I have a frame already. Will the foot and head boards attach to an existing frame other than the one provided with the bed? sand3997 on Feb 9, 2013

Thank you for this question. Several other customers have reviewed this color as being more shiny than matte. We will look into this right away. The foot boards and head boards are specifically designed for their rails, it is very hard to tell if they will fit other bed pieces. I hope this helps you. Hi, I have a memory foam mattress and dont use a box spring. I know this is not a platform bed, but can I lay wood slats across the bottom and skip having a box spring? would my foam mattress be too low if I did that? thanks. lemarietta on Oct 22, 2012

The normal dimensions of a king size mattress are listed as 76 wide x 80 long. The dimensions of this bed are showing 77 wide x 86 long. So the width is fine, but there are an extra 6 inches at either the head or the foot of this bed (between the mattress and the head/footboard). I realize the width of the head or footboard likely is another 2 or 3 inches, but is there a large gap between the mattress and the head or footboard? mtors on Aug 14, 2012

Yes, these ornamental beds are always "oversized" compared to the actual mattress size. The beds are longer, as the bedframe itself must extend beyond the mattress both at headboard and at footboard to allow for attachment of the decorative hdbd/ftbd themselves. Also, we intentionally make it longer to allow for what is called "comforter grace". That is, room to neatly tuck in the softgoods (sheets,duvets, comforters,etc..) without having to fight it down through the decorative footboard panel. And, of course, the total length also includes the 2-4" of the width of both the headboard and footboard panels themselves. overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 21, 2012
