You can keep the unit running continuously, however, depending on the particular environment, if you fill the tank up completely it should last about 4 hours. The unit will run without water, but the air will not be as cool.

I see this has a two-hour timer. Does that mean it will only run up to two hours or can you shut off the timer and run it indefinitely?
