Painted in 1902, the Beethoven Frieze was designed as temporary fresco. Taken down after the exhibition, it was not displayed again 1986. This piece is significant as it seen as a turning point in Klimt's career and begins his 'golden' period. This detail represents the hostile forces of lust and unchastity and is taken from the central wall of the frieze. Artist grade canvas is spline finished over solid wood stretcher bars and coated with multiple layers of UV finish. Ready to hang or frame, the canvas cleanly wrapped with natural colored edges.
