I had a KitchenAid mixer for years and it still works but I decided to upgrade to the professional series and I am amazed at how fast the dough comes together for my homemade english muffins. I did my first ever from scratch angel food, it was a success.

I needed to replace my previous stand mixer, which wasn't a KitchenAid, but I'd had it for years. I wanted one with a powerful motor because I often double recipes and my other one sometimes slowed down with extra cookie dough. This one does the job, but there are two things I don't like and haven't been able to get used to. First, as others have stated, the beater at its lowest setting leaves batter at the bottom, so I need to scrape the bowl too often. Second and more importantly to me, I really don't like not being able to tilt back the top. I find it difficult to scrape the batter without removing the beater by tilting it back, and when I add flour mid-recipe, it splatters even at a slow speed. With the tilt back style, it was easier to add flour and stir it in gently before turning the motor on. I knew that this mixer didn't tilt back when I bought it, but the option wasn't available with this model, and I'd hoped it would be okay. I'm disappointed.

I actually purchased the smaller mixer when they were on sale after Christmas. I brought it home and before I took it out of the box I did some more online browsing and read up on the 6 qut. model with the bigger motor. I returned the 5 qurt. unopened and ordered this one. I am so glad I went with the bigger model. Yes, it takes up space, but for the average foodie, it's the equivalent of having an Oscar award in the kitchen! I make a lot of bread, and the big bowl, heavy base, and dough hook are wonderful. I think my only negative comment would be that since the beaters aren't supposed to come in contact with the bottom of the bowl, I do more scraping of batters than I expected. It takes a little more time, and on some batters, I've felt like the lumps don't get beaten out. I'm still experimenting with that.

This thing makes baking fun and easy. This model does everything well. Lots of power and versatility. Worth every penny. I have wanted one for years and have looked at every model and sale for years. This was the ONE!

I have wanted one of these mixers for years. Now that I have it, my kitchen time has been cut down significantly. It is extreamly durable, not very loud, and mixes evenly. I made flat bread and was able to do everything I needed to in the mixer and bowl. The bowl and mixing pieces clean up fast and easy. This is money well invested.

YOU CAN NOT PUT THE BEATER IN THE DISH WASHER. Ruined and having to order replacement. Burnished aluminum. Other than that it seems to be working ok.

I've had my 5 quart basic kitchenaid stand mixer for over 20 years now, and just upgraded to the larger 6 quart pro. My old mixer still runs great and is being handed down to my son. I'm sure it will last another 20 years as will this new one. I love these mixers and all my old attachements (pasta maker, grinder, and ice cream maker) all fit this one too.

This item is fabulous! I can bake larger amount of goods and thicker dough. This kitchenaid mixer works great!

I had wanted this mixer for quite some time, I love it, no regrets, makes baking a breeze.

Powerful machine with the 6 quart size is great for large baking projects. Love the nickle pearl finish. The food grinder/pasta maker attachment is a must, so be prepared to drop some more cash if you want to make your own ground meats or pasta. Accessories are not cheap, but this surely is the most well built mixer you can buy.

We are using the mixer to make bread and it seems to handle to dough with ease and reaches the proper consistency in less time than the recipe indicates. We love the way it looks. Downsides: 1) When we received the mixer, the bowl height adjustment was set as low as possible and just barely clears the bottom of the beater. We cannot adjust it any lower. 2) When turing on the mixer, it gives off a smell like hot oil. Kind of like the train sets I had when I was a kid that burned 3-1 oil to make smoke. Not real impressive. I gave it four stars as we have not had any trouble with the performance of the mixer.

I am using my new 6 Quart Kitchen Aid in my Bakery as a back-up for small jobs and love it. It has that same quality that Kitchen Aid is reknown for. The service that Overstock is known for is great. The machine came quickly! I needed it fast so I appreciated that. It was packaged very well and I have no complaints.

I bought this kitchenaid mixer after I sold my 14 year old one at a garage sale only because I wanted a different color one and more power. I have not used it yet, but it looks great a nd sturdy. Better price than the retail shops.

I gave this mixer an overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5 because there are professional mixers available to the public, if you need to do that kind of baking. I bake for my family and friends, and find this mixer more than adequate for my home use. I bake a lot of breads, cakes, and cookies. Kitchen Aide mixers, have been around for generations. I have a 5 quart Kitchen Aide mixer I purchased over 20 years ago, and it is still going strong. The larger 6 quart bowl is great to mix larger batches, as the extra quart really makes a difference. I chose this one because I like to do a lot of baking, and this unit certainly can handle any job I have given it so far. The motor is stronger in this mixer and really mixes bread dough with ease. Rated the workmanship 4 stars because I read on line some where that Kitchen aide has replaced some internal parts with plastic instead of medal, I have not been able to verify this, but thought it was worth the mention. I am hoping it's durability, will last for years like the mixers in the past. It's appearance is beautiful and I keep it on my counter for all to see. I would highly recommend adding this mixer to any kitchen.
