KitchenAid 600 Mixer
from Lealgue City, Tx.,  Jan 5, 2011

I ordered the Professional 600 series mixer for my son, who is in pastry chef school and also makes desserts for people over the holidays. Great idea! He loves it especially the pretty red color. Lives up to all the KitchenAid endorsements.

Not quite what it seems
from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK,  Aug 13, 2010

Bought this allegedly more powerful KitchenAid as I am into bread making. My existing 220 volt Artisan 300 watt mixer was struggling with larger quantities of bread dough and after looking at what was available it seemed that the natural upgrade was the 600 series professional with its 575 watt motor even if it meant having to buy a step down voltage convertor to allow me to operate the 120 volt mixer in the UK. Build quality is excellent with a large bowl (made in India!) and the spiral dough hook works really well. However I am disappointed with its ability to cope with heavy bread doughs even with as little as 6-7 cups of flour (about 1.5 kgm). Mixer keeps cutting out and I have to wait up to 30 minutes for it to restart. This means that I then have to complete the kneading by hand which sort of defeats the purpose. Double the power therefore does not mean double the ability and KitchenAid really needs to improve the torque on the motor to justify the label "professional". I do like it and the red enamel finish is great but it does not live up to expectations.

kitchenaid mixer
from Tasmania, Australia,  Feb 13, 2010

so far, i've taken it out the box and have now realised that i have to buy a transformer/converter because this product was made in the USA and here in AUST we use a different voltage. i wish this info was given when I was looking to buy - i assumed that because it was sold in $AU - it would have same voltage machinery inside! now i have to a) find who can sell me a transformer and fit in to my mixer and b) get it done and PAY for it!!! so am a little disappointed that i can't use this machine immediately and am hoping i can get it fixed
