Nice, classy trash can. Need to warn others to not manually lift the top if it does not open up right away. There is a sensor that contols the lid which is a nice feature.

I received my itouchless can last Monday and I love it. I was skeptical about this trash can at first, however, rest assured it is great, I had no problem to remove the trash bag. This trash can works flawlessly. Never need to touch the dirty lid again while cooking. Making cleaning a whole lot easier with the sensor lid. Manual open button is great for peeling potato skin and keeping the lid open during party. There is power switch to turn off the auto open function so that the lid will stay shut and save battery. I'm thinking about ordering the AC adaptor so that no battery is needed. Overall, this sensor trash can is better than step-on trash can and costs a lot less too.

This product is sleek and attractive, plus a conversation starter. It is so very simple to toss your trash without needing an extra hand to hold the lid. I like the inner band that holds the trash bag in place. Drawbacks: top will close on your hand if you take too long to discard; opening is not very large. BUT: you can manually open if you know you have multiple items and need a longer time for the top to stay open, and you can totally remove the top lid if you need a larger opening. I would purchase it again!

I've had the itouchless trash can for just a few weeks, but am very pleased with it thus far. I have a teeny tiny kitchen, so have to keep the trash can out in the open, so looks and odor control are very important. In the past, I've had shorter and wider trash cans that use a 13 gallon bag, but somehow this taller model seems to hold more trash before I have to empty it. It also looks super neat since the trash bag is nicely tucked under the lid. Am also enjoying not having to touch it to open it, although there is an ever so slight delay as you hover your hand over the lid. Also, if my dog is sitting next to it, she is sometimes surprised by the closure of the lid since it stays open a few seconds after you've thrown your trash in and started to walk away. I've had a few accidental openings of the lid, but I think it's only because my kitchen is so small that I can't help getting into its air space. If I'm cleaning or in the midst of cooking, I often turn off the sensor and just manually leave the lid open. Not sure if this will save on the batteries, but it's just more efficient sometimes to have it in "manual" mode. So far, am loving it!

I didn't want a touchless trashcan, but I have a small kitchen, and this was all I found in the size I needed at a decent price. I went with this particular brand/model because of the power adaptor, which is absolutely essential for this type of product, in my opinion. Overall, I think the thing is stupid and miss my too-wide foot pedal can now serving the laundry room. But that said, I'm also kind of impressed. Once you get used to where exactly to put your hand and how long it stays open, it's really easy to use, and ours has been working well for 6 months now. If you need it to stay open longer, take the freaking lid off, or use the manual buttons. We configured our bags not to slip (a no-brainer) but we do have the suction when trying to take it out. Still, I'm a tiny 125lb woman and I can do it with a little elbow grease. Overall it was definitely worth it for us to get this size, since it's worked out so conveniently.

Great! Easy to use and stays clean. Wanted this because I wash my hands often while cooking and after opening the old trash can lid manually. This operates easily and the price was great compared to others on the market. I recommend this product to anyone.

The trash can looks nice in brushed finish. The automatic lid opens when I hold trash about 5 inches away from the can. It will close automatically when I walked away. No more mess when I'm cooking. I can also push the manual open button to keep it open for as long as I wanted. Kids love it and help cleaning after meals. I would recommend it to every family. I'm going to get the larger model for the kitchen and put this one in the office.

Excellent value... have not seen anything of near this quality for this low price. Works great. As expected, if you get too close it will open whether you want it to or not, but it's not a problem (you get used to it after a while and don't even notice). With the manual foot petal operated can we had before, you sometimes had to lift the lid with your hand anyway. You never touch any part of this automated can, which cuts down on germs I'm sure. Highly recommend.

This trash can works great with stainless steel appliances - it fits right in. Works just as it states, there is a sensor that picks up if you are close and opens the lid, waits about 5 seconds and closes it. There is also an on/off switch on the back. This comes in handy if you have to be near the trash can, but don't necessarily want it opening and closing every 5 seconds! It also has an open/close button if you want to manually do the lid. Good for if you need the lid up for an extended period. All and all a good trash can for the price!

I really like this trash can - it's a good size and functions well. It's nice that the lid opens on it's own or you can lift manually as well. My only complaint is that it arrived a little dented, where we placed the trash can the dents are not viewable so not a big deal.

While the concept of this automatic sliding lid trashcan is great, the execution of it is very poorly done. I expect a trash can to last pretty much a life time or close to it; when one that costs this much fails after only a year plus a few months light use (one person apartment), well, the manufacturer needsto go back to the drawing board. First, the entire auto mechanism is made of sliding plastic parts and the motor that opens and closes the plastic lid pieces is very weak. It started to slow down after only a few months of very light use, struggling to open and close the lid pieces. Then, the motor itself got out of sync and wouldn't close the lid all the way; you had to push the close botton a second time to have it complete the cycle. Then it would be out of sncy the next time round and keep running after the lid pieces were closed. Finally it stopped entirely and wouldn't open or close the lid at all, although you could hear it straining, trying to do so. I even tried oiling the sliding parts to no avail. This was with the power adaptor, not batteries so weak batteries were not the issue. I finally had to open and close the sliding plastic pieces by hand -- in other words, it was no longer any more "automatic" than any other trashcan. Eventually the sliding pieces came apart, rendering them useless even as a manual lid. Unformtuately I loved the idea of the auto-open, auto-close, and when it first was working it was great, as other reviewers have commented, but once it starts struggling to operate the lid, it is down hill from there. In my case that happened well short of the time I expect a simply trashcan to be functional (and after the warrentee, of course). The auto-flip up lid version of this company's auto-lid (the MX series also carried here) seems like it might fair better than this sliding contraption, possibly because it looks like there are less moving parts, although if they are using an undersized motor as they seem to have in the sliding lid version, the same failure could happen with it as well. I have not tried flip-up version so it's only a guess. If you must have this auto convenience, I would try the flip-top rather than this, but I definately DO NOT recommend this unit. To be perfectly safe, I will replace my iTouch trashcan with one that is operated by a foot peddle. It is still hands-free and doesn't require all that complicated infrared sensor technology and motors. Simple and still as "automatic" as I need. BTW, the stainless steel canister of this unit is very well made and good looking too. If only they had gotten the motor top designed better.

Am thrilled to have this new trash can, however, both me and trash can have to communicate a slight bit better as we go on... ~ If just walking by the trash can upon its side [without even having anything to put in it at all], then turning back almost a second later, it will open up on the lid (when flipped to the motion-related setting); although it does charge into the batteries usage a bit, at least it clearly indicates that the motion sensor working pretty darn well! ~ My learning to accept that while I primarily only keep it upon the motion-related setting and I make motion for it to open up while I'm scooping food, etc., off my plate or from a cooking pan/pot, that setting IS set to close back down upon a limited amount of time (unknown for sure since I DIDN'T look into the owner manual booklet, but seems like out of guess between 30 seconds - 1.5 minutes) -- it will close the lid while my hands & other item(s) are still within the open lid area! Therefore, I've now learned to switch the setting to open & close buttons upon the front instead of the motion-related setting when taking upon the reason for usage!

It?s a great idea; I?m a little bit of a germaphobe, love the thought of trashing something without touching it. I bought one for the family on Christmas (now Feb7) and now I regret it mostly because it doesn?t behaving properly. Frequently , when using the sensor to operate it will raise the lid and stay open, when you push the buttons to open and close they don?t work because the mechanism is stuck and sometimes it just don?t work at all. When it acts this way I?ll turn it off and back on again. Makes you frustrated enough to slap is stupid. A product should work properly all the time every time. The product lacks of quality and electrical/ mechanical improvement. I also follow the product instructions on maintenance and still produces faults. For the next guy, save your money this product needs some work. I wouldn?t recommend to purchase rather spend it on a manual foot operated one instead.

Mine started working only sporadically only immediately. I should have returned it under the warranty, but it's a trash can. Even though it's not a cheap one, it doesn't seem worth shipping it across the country because it doesn't function the way it's supposed to. Eventually it stopped working altogether, without any apparent damage. Since it's meant to open on its own, it's difficult to open manually, but it does want to shut automatically, especially when you're trying to wrangle something into it while holding the lid open with your other hand. Just don't do it - it's too high-tech for a simple item. Go with the foot peddle type - Simple Human makes one with a 5 year warranty.

It's close in price to manual lid trash cans. The lid works as expected... pops up with a wave of the hand... does not pop up when just walking through the room. Thinking about getting another.

I purchased this product after reading the positive and negative reviews. Some of the negative reviews mentioned issues that have been fixed in the current iteration of this product. The bag is completely hidden at this point. The sensor works very reliably. I have had the product for a few months now and it has met my expectations. The only change I would like is that if you open it using the sensor and are scrapping a plate or something that might take a few extra seconds, the lid will close on you. I would prefer if it worked more like automatic doors. To wit, the sensor would be continually activated by additional motion and the lid would stay open until the motion in front of it stopped for an appropriately long time. This issue is ameliorated by the manual control buttons that when you push open, will keep the lid open until you hit the close button.

I have been using the product for about 2 weeks now. Both the trash cans came in a single box, with the small one placed inside the larger one. The setup was real easy and instruction manual was pretty simple. It is working really well. The range of the sensor is very small, as a result of which it opens only when your hand is about 3-4 cm near the lid. This prevents the hassle of the can automatically opening now and then. The manual open and close is a good option, when you want to leave the can open for peeling and similar activities. Will be updating my review after some time about the durability and the battery life. Looks gud! I would easily recommend this to a friend.

I've had the iTouchless trash can for about 3 weeks now and it works wonderful. Was skeptical at first but so far I am very pleased with its performance and I have not yet had to change the batteries. In fact I am purchasing one for my mother and sending it to her because I like it so much. The way the lid opens I no longer get scratches on my kitchen wall (my other manual tcan left ugly marks on the wall from its hinge action) and its even more fun for my kids to throw away their trash. So that is certanily a bonus any parent can appreciate :)

I purchased 2 of these one for trash and one for recyled items. Although they look nice and are well built, they rarely open when I need it to but if I just happen to be walking by it will open! At first is was eerie but then I just got used to walking a different path in my kitchen. I would not recommend because it is constantly going through batteries and it will only work properly for about 2 weeks on fresh batteries. I wish I got the ones with an AC adapter so I could plug them in and not be constantly going through batteries. Also if it had a foot pedal or handle on it at least it would be easier to open, as it is now they don't automatically open when I need them to and I have to manually pry open the lid. I would not recommend-- - buy the ones with the AC adapter!

Works like a champ. Lid opens and closes very fast and is super responsive. Manual open/close on lid allows you to leave lid open for longer period of time if needed. Requires 4 "D" batteries.

I've enjoyed our fancy new trash can. I've learned how to make it open nearly every time with the first swipe. Sometimes it's a little stubborn, but not often. And there IS a manual "open" button as well. I didn't realize that the thing closed by itself too until a few hours after I had it. It almost scared me! LOL The opening in the lid could be a bit larger, though it's usually not a problem. And, changing the trash bag is a little more time-consuming than my old regular trash can, but I'm finding that this one holds much more because everything sinks to the bottom (and also makes the bag REALLY heavy if I let it get all the way full... ) I'd definitely buy this one all over again, though. It's a nice look, nice idea, and a pretty cool "toy". :) And it was a SUPER buy!! I haven't seen many plain stainless trashcans even close in price to this one! I finally decided it's "safe" to throw out my shipping box after a month. :)
