Story Behind the Art:
In India, artisans take great pride in handcrafting these items. Some of the pieces are made in a workshop which helps to provide hundreds of jobs in the community where it is located, where work is very difficult to find. However, many of these items are handcrafted in small villages or towns, which helps us to provide for families without going to a large city. Most of the artists live very simple lives and have been doing this type of work for many decades. The knowledge and many of their traditions have been passed down from our ancestors. It gives them much satisfaction knowing they are helping to preserve many dying arts.
