Wood - Kids' Beds

First of all, the way this shipped to me was awful. I was very surprised because I've never had an issue with shipping through Overstock before but the box was opened on one side. I thought some pieces had fallen out. They hadn't but one part of the bed was damaged. We managed to hammer it back into place but it is still bent. Now, the directions are another story. I don't know who put the directions together but they are extremely unhelpful. I had help and we had to take it apart a few times to get it right because the individual pieces aren't labeled and there is no step-by-step. Final complaint- I'm not sure how it will hold up. Yeah, it looks nice (except for knicks in the wood from shipping) but there are these flimsy wooden slats that snap into place over the frame. I can take pictures and upload them, just not at the moment. Good luck if you purchase this!

This bed set is as beautiful and sturdy as it appears in the picture. With 4 boys, that's a must if I have to invest in something they will use regularly. We purchased 2 sets (obviously so there wouldn't be any fighting). They look just as nice today as when we first put them together. I do wish we had purchased the "bunky boards" to put on top of the wooden slat boards for more support and to prevent the mattress from falling through. We have makeshift plywood under the mattresses - works okay but aren't the custom look. You know how that is :) - gotta cut corners where you can with this many kids. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of the furniture.

My daughter unfortunately has not slept in this bed once. lol. Although she loves it - slide, great for playing/hiding underneath - there were some things that she expressed concerned ( as we did too actually) The wood slats holding the mattress could be a little stronger . Dont get me wrong, I think the bed is somewhat sturdy but the slats bending and such isnt comforting. Mind you the bed has a maximum weight ( I dont know what the industry standard is) but lets just say, you as an adult shouldnt be laying with your child on this . ha The slide is sturdy, no issues there but depending on your mattress height - it could be a dangerous situation when trying to slide off the mattress then onto the slide. For us, we had a mattress with a very thin pillow top and the safety rail barely covers it. I dont fault the bed for this matter but I do kind of wish the rails on the side would be much higher to accommodate the mattresses sold today. Another thing that kind of stinks is the area below. Really can do anything with it besides hide all the stuffed animals or use it as a hide/seek thing which clearly they had the same intentions with the curtains and fake window etc. Being said though, this is a entry level bed. Its held up but I can see long term there could be issues. The wood material isnt the strongest ( I can tell when screwing in the screws how "easily" they go in. Also be careful if using a powerdriver, if you go too much it can easily strip the screws and/or spin the hole in which there is no more traction (due to the soft wood/laminated wood ) The stairs hurt your feet, even my kids say so. In fact, they try to do a running head start and jump up just to avoid the stairs or they go up the slide. In conclusion, Nifty idea but was just wishing a little more. You may actually find similar material like beds at IKEA , if you really want some apples to apples comparison.

I love the bed; the color and the style. But, putting it together was Very Difficult! They could've given better instructions. And the quality of the wood is Horrible! It is very easily striped and I had to buy wood glue to keep the head board together. But all in all, my son loves his new blue bed.

First let me say that while I am pleased with the quality of the bed and the look, it took a really long time to be delivered. Like close to two months! I am still giving it five stars though because when it finally was delivered the company the bought it was very polite and on time for delivery day. They came in, put the bed together and removed all the packing materials. So that part at least was seamless. The bed frames are solid wood and have so far withstood the wear and tear of two occasional rambunctious boys. The headboard is a bit darker then I expected but it still looks nice and matches our other decor well. No spits or cracks that I can see. The trundle is very low to the ground, which is what I wanted for the kids but might be too low for adults that intend to sleep on it more then the rare occasion. We have it on hardwood floors so no problem with it rolling but if I were to critique anything about the bed construction itself it would be that there appears to be no locks on the trundle wheels. I also would recommend adding your own slats to the upper bed for support under the box spring and mattress. It comes with three slats and while they are firmly secured I really don't think that is enough support. It's a easy issue to remedy though. Overall, my family is happy with this purchase and I think it was worth the money.

The Edgewood Sleigh was very easy to assemble and we were impressed that this bed is made of solid wood which makes it a very sturdy bed.Th light in the head board can be a reading light but can also be dimmed down to provide a night light for kids who don't like dark rooms. The selection of HeadLightz Images is a very impressive selection that includes everything from Disney to outdoor scenes. My daughter of course picked a Frozen themed image for her bed. I love the storage in the foot board of the bed for all the extra images as this keeps them from getting ruined while not in use. I'm so happy we found this bed as it made the transition from a toddler bed to a 'big girl' bed very easy for my daughter. The designers of this bed have thought of everything and it is the perfect bed that both parents and kids will love for years to come.

These beds are good for what I needed right now. Easy enough to put together and very sturdy. I wish there were more slats for under thae mattress. I had to buy plywood to reinforce that part. Also the wood is a little softer than I would like. I can see my kids scratching it up easily over the years.

Great sturdy construction. The only improvement I made was to discard the wood strips or slats that support the mattresses. I replaced them with a 1/2-inch plywood boards or each mattress. The bed is solid and my kids love it!

Fantastic color (and came with touch-up pens!) and very sturdy. Bought 3 for our 3 youngest boys and they love them. Comes in a LOT of pieces but easy to put together. I recommend using wood glue where there are wooden dowels but not critical.
Children's beds act as an empty canvas just waiting to realize its potential. To a child, a bed is not just a place for sleeping, but a place for secrets, toys, and make-believe. Kids' beds can become pirate ships or spaceships and change just as quickly into a covered wagon or castle. Their imagination knows no bounds, which can sometimes lead to accident-prone afternoons. The ever popular "Let's-pretend-the-bed-is-a-trampoline" game usually ends in tears. Read More
