It took me about 30 mins with my 4 year old son to put this together. I really liked the look of it, but soon found out that the wood pieces that hold up the mattresses are low quality wood. It didn't even take 3 days for one of the planks to bust in half. My kids were seen once jumping on it, but when I looked underneath, it was still in one piece. I asked Overstock for allowance to replace the boards with something from Home Depot, and they refunded me $25 to help pay for better quality wood. I'd advise anyone wanting to purchase the beds to use better wood instead of the ones that come with the box.

Really cute headboard that is perfect in our 3 year olds room. It's soft enough that kids shouldn't get hurt, but grown-up enough that he won't out grow it in a year. Very happy w/ it!

I like this youth bed due to the height and my 3 yr old feels like she is all grown up and now wants to sleep in it. It's great to be able to put some toys underneath it or she can hide underneath it to. No problems with assembly.

I am very pleased with the bunk bed. First of all it arrived only 3 days after I had purchased it! And when it came time to set it up it was pretty easy. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a nice looking bunk bed but doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg on it.

While we got a larger than average mattress for the bottom bunk, the bottom is still too small. There isn't enough room in between the two bunks. As it is, my 3 year old cannot sit up in bed without hitting her head. Even with a smaller mattress, this would have still been an issue.

Purchased this be for my 3 yr. old grandson. 1.5 yr. later, the rail cracked. Since the warranty was up, Overstock offered a replacement rail for $@#$%. I took them up on this and am awaiting delivery. After reading these reviews I probably would not recommend this bed but give Kudos to Overstock for helping with the problem.

the item was quite easy to assemble (I am a proficient DIYer): we had to add screws to the ladder because --as designed-- the lower portion would swing when someone is going up/down . . . also slight cracks appeared in the lengthwise supports (probably because the girls, ages 3 and 5, were jumping all over the bed), but well-placed glue and screws solved this.; otherwise, the girls (and I) are very satisfied

I liked the design of the product and that it is solid maple wood. I have not assemble yet, but it looks fairly simple. Of the 3 boxes, one was really banged up... delivery company opened and let me inspect. All in good shape. Delivery was within 10 days. Good follow up from Overstock and advising shipping/delivery. I think this is a good value for the money. My 8 year old will love it!

We have had this bunk bed up for a few weeks and so far, so good. My son loves it and sleeps both up and down, as far as I know it is very comfortable. My only complaint is regarding the support boards for under the mattress. There are not enough boards in my opinion. If they added an additional two board for each bed, it would be much, much better supported. So for now I have some plywood on top of the slats which may do for the duration but again, if they had only included an additional four boards, it would have made a huge difference. The instructions were pretty easy to follow, I did manage to mess up one part but I was able to just drill some holes to fix it. It probably took 2-3 hours to put it together, working by myself without any help from my husband. Overall, I would definitely recommend this bed. I think we will be very happy with it in the foreseeable future.

The bed was cute and my 4 year old daughter loved it. It wasn't quite as stable as I would have liked when it was new and then it seemed to get looser as time went on. The first few times I went around and retightened the screws things firmed up. I was trying to retighten about every 2-3 weeks before I decided to just put the bed on craigslist and was happy to sell it for 300.00. I did tell them not to bother with the "self-tightening" screw system it came with. They were going to pick up some 4 inch screws from the hardware store to use on the base. The material pieces were nicely made. Took a while to iron out but once up they were nice.

I really like this bed. It went together easily (I put it up in about 2 hours by myself - one bunk), it has a nice finish and look, and it seems pretty sturdy. I am only using one bed/bunk right now because my son is only 3 years old. Thankfully I had the extra bed slats from the second bed to use on this one because I feel like there were not enough for each bed for good support. If I had put both beds together, I would have gone to the hardware store for more wood for slats. Delivery was quick.

I bought 2 of these for my Grandchildren and they fit perfect in their small bedroom with enough room left over to play. Bunk beds would have saved more space but I thought a 2 & 3 year old were too young for bunk beds. Be careful not to over tighten the screws because the wood will split over time. This happened after several months and we patched it up with wood putty. Overall a very affordable sturdy wood bed and perfect for smaller rooms.

The bunk set is perfect for my light weight grandkids, 6 & 10 years old. They were so excited to see it finally set up and complete. This bed takes two people about 3 hours to put together, way more than I expected. What was I thinking, I can think of much better ways to spend my time. Next time, no more parts and pieces, I'll buy things that come mostly built and ready to use.

We bought this for our son's bedroom, and were pleased with how easy it was to assemble and how sturdy the wood is. It's an attractive style that will grow with him and hopefully last for years. The bed comes with 3 wood slats to support a box spring, but we wanted to use it as a platform bed so just went to the lumber store and had them cut 6 more slats the same length. When assembling there are 2 heights to choose from for installing the side rails, by choosing the higher option for this the mattress sits up perfectly on the slats. Very pleased with the purchase!

I can't say whether or not this is a quality product because, after cleaning out my son's room and tearing down his existing bed, I opened the box and found that the hardware was not included. No screws, washers, or either of the wrenches that are needed to assemble this bed. I called overstock and was told it would take up to 2 business days for a "follow-up," during which someone from the warehouse will contact me to determine what I need - even though I told the customer service rep exactly what I need. And then another 3-5 days to ship the missing hardware to me. Meanwhile, I have to put my son's bedroom back together so he will have somewhere to sleep, and he is upset because he won't get to sleep in his cool new bunk bed tonight. BOO!

This bed came in two large boxes that were delivered in just a week. Each box had a set of directions, but you had to follow the directions in the smaller box that held the extention pieces which might be confusing. Another thing that was confusing about the directions is that they labeled all of the parts on the diagrams by letter, but there were no letters on the actual parts to compare them to. So you had to spend a significant amount of time analyzing each piece (this one has 2 holes, it must be M, this one has 3 holes, it must be N). Otherwise, the directions were easy to follow and tok you step by step through the process. I would highly suggest getting a longer Alan Wrench to put this bed together. There is one included in each box, but it is fairly short and you need more torque on several occasions. Also, for putting in the bed slats, I suggest a power screwdriver. That would be a lot of screws to put in by hand. We (myself and my sister-in-law, 2 women ) put it together in about 2 hours. My children have been sleeping on it for 3 weeks now and I've slept on it 2 nights. The picture is a good representation of the finished bed. We saw similar beds, albeit a bit nicer looking, for 3 times the price. The only thing that is a little strange with this bed is the ladder. There is no obvious place for it as there would be on other beds. The placement they show it in the picture is a little awkward. I think it makes more sense to put in on the end if you have the room and that is what I will eventually do. Because I have little ones that I don't want climbing up there, I didn't attach it for now. My older children have no problem climbing to the second bunk.

Very pleased ... bought for teen sons & they love it! Received quickly & in good condition. Took two of us 3 hours to put together (many pieces ... slow & patient wins the race :-). Quite stylish ... space efficient ... seems to be well made & sturdy ... opens/closes easily into a full size bed when needed. Step rails not the most comfortable to climb up/down (may attempt to pad them in some way) ... and futon may need some additional center support (underneath) to prevent future sagging. No surprises though ... read all the reviews before I bought and would definitely buy again ... THANKS Overstock.com!!!!

Bought this bunk set for my twin 3 year olds. The boxes were very heavy so I had to take the parts out downstairs and carry up the pieces. The parts were solid wood and sturdy. There was a slight odor from the finish that went away after two days. It took about 2 hours to assemble both beds but it was relatively easy. We are using the beds separately so I don't know how the beds are as bunks. One is slightly taller than the other but it's not a problem for me. The color was more of a brown walnut color and not nearly as red as the picture suggests. You do not need and should not use a box spring with these beds--there are plenty of very sturdy slats underneath.

You cannot beat this price and this quality. The bed took us maybe 2-3 hours to put together (with a small hiccup - Husband installed the 2 pieces opposite, but he tends not to analyze directions and I had left the room). The bed does not move, sway, shake. I was nervous having my 6 year old on top that it would come crashing on my 4 year old, but this is really just so well made. My mother was happy that there was enough room for them to sit up in the lower bunk and be able to read without hitting their head (she tested this herself. Just FYI, with any bunkbeds, you need a bunk bed mattress. These were a bit difficult to find, but we found a great deal at ***.

I bought this as a short term transition bed from the crib to a regular bed. I bought it from Overstock because it was $50 less on this website. The construction was easy - I did it by myself. I was disappointed to see a big gauge on the headboard upon opening the box....but by that point the crib had been disassembled and there was no way I was shipping the bed back....a little sanding and white paint fixed the problem. The rails only come down about 1/3 of the way from the headboard - my son has fallen out, but the bed height is only about 12" off the floor, so no injuries. The bed is functional - fits the standard crib matress, and my son loves having a "big boy bed." It takes up so much less room than a crib making his room feel much larger, and opens up more play space. I recommend this as an alternative to having your child crawl over the crib railings - its much safer to have them closer to the ground!
Many parents invest in convertible cribs to save money in the long run. A convertible crib serves its purpose as a crib, and then, once your child has outgrown the crib, you can remove one or both sides of the convertible crib to make a comfortable toddler bed for your growing child. The transition to toddler beds from cribs can be a hard one to make for many children, but there are several things you can do to make the transition easier for both of you.
