Kathie McCurdy has a passion for flowers. Being an avid gardener with a degree in fashion design has given Kathie a huge appreciation for color, shape and beauty. After 12 years of growing and pressing flowers for her art, Kathie's work now encompasses over 100 designs. She found herself taking the old-fashioned Victorian craft of flower pressing and bringing it into a contemporary place in time. Kathie's designs range from traditional to modern, from simple to complex. Kathie's artwork also includes floral photographs and digital manipulation.
Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured on a hidden, wooden frame.     I am so very pleased with this purchase. I hung it in my dining room to jazz it up. My walls are cream, like the edges of the one piece of orchid. The 3 panel design allowed me to spread it out a bit to accommodate for a larger dining room wall. The colors pop and you cannot help but notice it when you walk in the room. My accessories are purple, pink & black for special fun night get togethers and this piece was my inspiration for pink & black at the table. I began with black plates which are easy to find and went from there. Pure inspriration! This artist is very talented, her pressed flower work on canvas will probably be my next purchase for wall art.
