Customer Reviews
I love this blender. Another blender that we bought to make fruit smoothies left chunks of banana even after much blending...so a new blender was in order. I ordered this based on other good reviews and cooks illustrated best buy rating. It was delivered very promptly and I wanted to try it out right away! I asked my husband what he wanted and he put a bunch of ice cubes, milk and some strawberries in it. I thought, oh great. With all that ice we'll break it on its first use! But it easily crushed it all up without any sign of motor strain at all. I was thrilled. I make protein smoothies daily with chunks of frozen banana, frozen blueberries, milk and soy protein powder.....everything is blended completely smooth and the protein powder doesn't even stick to the sides of the blender like it often did with other types I've tried. Yay! This is a great buy.
I can't review durability because I just purchased the blender. Like many other people, I chose this particular blender because it received high marks from Cooks Illustrated. I like that it can be taken apart for thorough cleaning.
It amazes me that Cook's Illustrated recommended this blender. It couldn't even puree a banana in my smoothie! I couldn't believe it, so I tried for 3 days straight with the same lousy result. I learned that smoothies are really gross with lumps of bananas in them! The only good thing about this blender is that it was quieter than most blenders. To add insult to injury, I printed out a return label from Overstock.com to return it, only to be charged over 9 bucks for that privilege. From now on, I will only be buying books from Overstock.com. Nevertheless, I'm glad to be rid of that terrible blender.
When I first opened the box, I was a bit wary. The cover seemed pretty flimsy. Also, my previous blender had about 12 different speeds so I was afraid that the two speeds (plus the pulse feature) would be limiting. HOWEVER, once I actually used the blender, I was extremely happy. I use it for smoothies and it whips it up so well - no fruit chunks at all. It is also super quiet. I put ice in it and it didn't make the horrible sound my old blender made so I was afraid it wasn't crushing the ice at all. But the ice was completely integrated! Definitely recommend it. Easy cleaning as well. This was recommended by Cooks Illustrated magazine as their second option. The reason I didn't go with their first option was that it could not be disassembled in order to clean it (which, oddly, was seen as a plus). But I'm a germ freak so I loved the fact that this Kalorik blender can be comp;letely broken down and put in the dish washer.
i love this blender! for starters, it is muy groovy looking. now my kitchen is full of gleaming stainless steel appliances! the two speeds make it easy to use. it cleaned up easily and the glass container is sturdier than the plastic ones in many other blenders. the container size is also ideal, not too big, not too small. i wouldn't recommend this blender for heavy use (think jamba juice) but for normal household use i think it's great.
