Kalorik Mixer
 from Hollywood,FL,  Feb 19, 2009

Extremely pleased with this mixer, I was drooling to get one of the high end mixers like Alton has on "Good Eats" but really couldn't afford it, so the hubby bought me this one that I had found on Overstock. I as well as he, are quite impressed of the strength of the motor considering that it is so compact, and have mixed up several batches of dough with it with no strain on the motor. And the motor is very quiet, I was doing some midnight baking and the hubby could not hear me using the mixer, even though the bedroom is near the kitchen. He woke in the morning to the surprise of peach pie for Valentines. I am also very happy as to how the mixer can come off of its base and be used as a hand mixer. I display my Kalorik Mixer proudly on my kitchen countertop. And if this one would ever break due to my clumsiness or some other mishap I will be buying this brand again. Glad that I had taken a chance on it. 5 stars to you Kalorik!=- PS, my hubby is a machinist and he is quite impressed with the workmanship also.

Great Gift For My Mom!!!
from Darien, NY,  Dec 31, 2008

I bought this as a gift for my mom for Christmas, and she loves it!! She said she's impressed by the power it has. Plus it goes nice with the new stove she just got. I think it was a good value for the money, and if I didn't already have a stand mixer, I would probably get one for myself.

5 Stars
from West Point UT,  Jan 29, 2009

I use this mostly for kneading bread dough ( about 2 loaves max) and it seams to do the job quite well. Easy to clean by submerging stand in dish water, then wiping down the motor.

Kalorik Chrome Mixer - Is Not Chrome
 from California,  Apr 11, 2012

I bought this "Chrome" mixer expecting it to be a quality item. What I got was plastic and not chrome. The box states "chromed finish". What that means is plastic-colored silver to look like chrome. The only chrome to be found is the beaters and hook attachments. The base is light and doesn't appear to be sturdy. Design could be improved in that you have to release the hand mixer from the base in order to release the beaters. Would not recommend.

"Chrome?" Nope -- it's plastic
from Los Angeles,  Apr 10, 2012

I was so shocked when I received this mixer -- especially after all of the raves! It's not chrome. It's a thin plastic that looks like chrome. I've had this in kitchen wares before and they are very quick to break/crack. Returned immediately. VERY sad to do so as it looks great! Just wish it was what was described.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Color is the same
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Very disappointing
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Not at all. Said it was chrome, when it's not

No bread
 from Dallas,TX,  Jun 19, 2009

I bought this mixer to be able to make a myriad of things, but especially to help in bread making , since it came with dough hooks. It worked well for cakes and muffin mixing, but stopped working after I used the dough hooks for breadmaking.

This is a great mixer!
from Madison, WI,  Apr 8, 2009

I bought this standing mixer because I wanted to learn how to make bread and I needed the dough hooks. Since I don't cook or bake often, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. This turned out to be a great standing mixer! So far I've only used the first level of power to mix the dough because it's handled the job so well. I was shocked! It's easy to use and a nice size for what I need. I would buy this unit again definietly.

Have to take it apart for add and remove beaters
from Lexington, Ky,  Aug 27, 2011

A good mixer for the price, just wish I had ordered a stand mixer instead of this one that comes apart and is a pain to deal with.

Great product for the money!
 from NC,  Jul 1, 2011

It is very lightweight and small, which is what I wanted. I live in a townhouse and do not have a huge kitchen -- it is perfect to sit out on the countertop for easy use. I am not a seasoned cook and only need a small mixer for small things ---- this one is perfect!

Too good to be true
from Santa Barbara, CA,  Dec 7, 2009

I needed a new mixer and couldn't justify spending several hundred on a kitchenaid. I bought this instead. It works, but... It is loud, you have to stop the motor and lift the head up to pour things in without making a mess and the bottom of the head (where the beaters insert) frequently gets full of dough, batter, etc. and is a pain to clean. Now I'm buying a kitchenaid, which is what I should've done in the first place.

Very good replacement.
from Cary, NC,  Jul 30, 2011

Do not set your expectations too high. Do not try to compare to Kitchen-Aid. With that in mind, you should be ok. The thing performs as it should but it is underpowered, so, do not prepared bread or heavy dough with it or its lifetime will shorten. All other stuff is alright. The picture is deceiving... it isn't as though as it looks: the appliance's casing is plastic; bow, beaters, engine are metal (no other way around, of course) but for the price, it's ok. It's been 2 years now and it is still going strong. Worth the price ? Probably around *** bucks would be a fair price.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Very true
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Not as close a Kitchen-aid as it looks
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Fair

Good Mixer
 from Boston,  Dec 31, 2010

We bought this mixer because we are cashual bakers and didn't want to spend *** on a ****. The mixer has plenty of power and we use it once or twice a month for bread. We also make cakes, cookies, brownies, etc.,and sometimes use it just to mix sauces and things while cooking because it mixes so well. We like that the bowl turns and that the mixer removes from the stand if you want to use it as a hand mixer. The downsides are that the bowl is smaller than we would like and you have to be very careful when addding flour while mixing or a small cloud puffs out of the bowl and gets the rest of the mixer all dirty. The gears that interlock with the beaters are plastic (the beaters themselves are NOT plastic, just the gears) and that made us a little nervous as first, but they've worked fine for the 18 months we've had the mixer. The mixer is lightweight but powerful, we usually only use the first one or two speeds. The engine does seem to be struggling a little when we fill the bowl with bread dought, but outs is still going strong. For the price, this is an excellent mixer.

Great Design, Great Price
from Overland Park, KS,  Nov 26, 2010

I got this mixer last year for Christmas and have been pleased with its design, power and ease of use so far. The bowl is somewhat small but OK for what I've used it for - cookies, cakes, etc. When I needed a larger bowl I pulled it off the stand and used it as a hand mixer. I ran into my first major problem inserting the beaters. As another reviewer noted, the gears are plastic and apparently I was too aggressive. Both gears are jammed and one is broken, so just be careful inserting the beaters and you'll be OK. I'm debating whether to get a different mixer to replace this one - I'd rather have this one but will have to be careful.

Very Happy
 Feb 14, 2010

I feel like I made a great decision. I bought this mixer for the home baking that I love to do. For the first time in my life I made perfect icing. No other mixer that I have ever had was able to whip the icing to the point where it was fluffy. I am in love. I find myself trying to find reasons to use it. This is a great buy for a mother that love to bake goodies for her children. So far so good. This product has defiantly improved my baking. I will recommend to anyone that will listen.

Kalorik Chrome mixer
from Johnstown, PA,  Dec 30, 2009

I am very happy with the Kalorik Chrome Hand/Stand mixer. It is light weight and comfortable to use. The power seems capable of handling anything I will be making. I'm happy with the design of the mixer. It is a bit more compact in size than some others I had looked at, and I find that is nice, too.
